Yes, Depot is correct, there won't be any power tools. which will make things a lot more difficult, but hell, that's the point <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

And no more references to god's country -_<

Would really suck if you just get there, set up your tent, get all ready, start chopping down your first tree...

...get it chopped nice and good, its about to fall, and it...

...friggen bear comes and steals your tree.

    Good luck.

Bears won't bug you if you store your food properly. Your number one concern will be rain, I can almost gaurentee that. It rains alot here, bring waterproof stuff, you will be glad you did. I'm assuming you have some reasonable survivalist skills, otherwize you would be smart enough to not do this... there are more then a million tricks to acctually doing well in a wilderness survival situation. Get a good book that can help you learn the plantlife around where you plan on living. Living off the land in the rockies is basicly impossible, you could probably succeed in bringing your living expenses to ~ 20 bucks a week, if not a little lower, but you will still need some connection to civilization. You aren't aboriginal, and the only reason they were ever successful was thousands of years of passed down survival tradition, and semi nomadic lifestyles. Don't get frustrated.

    Advice:

If you're going to be far away from civilization, bring medical supplies. Having a set of antibiotics with you can mean the difference between life and death.

I also strongly suggest you invest in a first-aid book so you can set a bone should you break one.

My advice: Don't mess with the bears; they <i>will</i> f*** you up.

make sure you own the land you build your cabin on <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    1) If you don't own the land you're building the cabin on, get *written* permission, and also be prepared to have said permission revoked at the tip of a hat.

    2) Be sure you're in compliance with all hunting laws

    3) Be sure to comply w/ any other laws, such as waste disposal and etc.

    4) Sing "The Lumberjack Song" at least once a week.

*makes little check mark on to-do list*

Ok, a little clarification is in order. we're not going to be living in the "rockies" per se.... more like "just a little to the left of the rockies, and a little south". in a kind of psuedo-mountain-valley area.

    It's much nicer. sexier too.

    Oh,and don't leave any food in the tents. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Cos once again the kill/food/tree-stealing bears will be there to eat it,followed by yourselves.
