Wow. It's really cool. I wish I had watched it soon! :O


I love the whole old west in space feel. Normally such a thing would sound silly but they pulled it off perfectly.


Now to put the rest of the series discs in my queue...

I don't know what those other people said, but i have a sneaky feeling that Nem has used his admin/god-like powers to remove any negative description of the firefly series so as to... prevent any opposition to his opinion. 'course since i don't know what those other people said I can only assume.


Saying that i would like to say that i did not care for firefly one bit. The episodes i watched felt tacky and unpleasant to watch. Now i consider myself a relatively open minded kinda sci-fi fan.. what with watching everything even vaguely sci-fi... i even watched <i>starship troopers</i> for gods sake. But i did not care for firefly. in fact, i liked starship troopers <i>more</i> then i did firefly. Take that Nem!

Ouch, that hurts. But yeah, I can see what you mean. There's always a noticeable difference between the props around the ship, and the outside world. It's quite obvious that their budget got cut down from the first day of shooting. In so far, I can agree with you about it being tacky and - if you're looking for nice looking space CG - just utterly the wrong series. I love the dialogue and the great actor performance. To each his own.

Yes Nem, but i'm not talking about special effects here, i watched an episode that was entirely without CGI of any kind (barring the *occasional* glance at the ship.)

It was this episode with all these people in old dresses and garments and the captain ended up somehow in a duel with this other guy and it was just retarded.

Also, What about farscape? sure i geuss it had some fancy special effects, but that sure as hell wasn't why i watched it to the bleeding end on the edge of my seat with eyeball juice coming out of my fingers. Yeah.

Ah, the Shinding. I liked it, but it's certainly not a good episode to get into the whole thing. Can just be that the western-sci fi blend rubs you the wrong way, though. I loved farscape... I never caught the first ep of firefly but I did see one ep and just assumed I'd have liked it more if I saw them in order :s

I think my favourite episode of Firefly has to be the one where Malcolm (that the right name? Haven't watched FF for a few months.) has to deliver his friends corpse. Just a really good episode, with a great ending. Awesome action, too.
