I'm tempted to try this. Unfortunately, the net connection at this apartment is unreliable and generally pretty bad. I've complained and it gets better (or not) for a while then back to the hours long lag spikes of sometimes over 1000ms ping times. to the hop an extra step past my router. They say somebody is putting out a bunch of bad traffic, it worked best when the firewalled it out, don't know why they changed back.
If I get that fixed we'll see. I have thoughts of starting small, short term businesses by way of IPOs.
I just thought I would check in and see what was shaking here, I talked to spinviper in game and so far he seems to be having a good time. If any one ends up in genesis look me up.
I would come up and say hi to all you guys who started, but I'm a bad and ebil pirate. Some how this prevents me form entering safe space. always wondered whether I should give this game a try. always sounded like the learning curve was steep, it's easy to lose everything you've worked to earn, and the idea of taking real-life weeks and months for your character to 'learn' something or acquire a license or however it works sounds like too much trouble... but darn, is it pretty.

#1: Learning curve is steep. True. But luckily there are a lot of people to help, who want to. #2: No, its not very easy to lose everything. If you buy proper insurance on your ships, you'll never lose them completely, and if someone tries to rob you of your ISK you can always refuse...and have to put that insurance to use. #3: It only takes weeks and months once you're in the truly high up stuff- and its nice that its doing something when you aren't around, to be honest. #4: Yeah its pretty. And its getting even better next patch.
I've played this game twice now. The first time I left because I got very bored with it. The solo gamer content is practically nil. Mine asteroids, run (essentially the same 2 or 3) missions, or haul cargo across trade routes. I took the mission route in general and got pretty bored with the same kill missions over and over.
I came back when I found a large group to play with. That was okay for a while, until I found out that fleet battles are massive lag festivals where 2 fps was the norm. Apparently the game isn't built to handle what is supposed to be one of the best parts of the game. Seems to me that Eve is just waiting for someone to come along and do an mmo space sim correctly, at which point we'll never hear another peep about it. The only problem is no one has bothered to do a good mmo space sim in all these years.

i thought it was all about who had the most of the following items in the corp hangar:<ol type='1'><li><a href="http://www.eve-online.com/itemdatabase/tradegoods/passengers/17765.asp" target="_blank">Exotic Dancers</a></li><li><a href="http://www.eve-online.com/itemdatabase/tradegoods/consumerproducts/9850.asp" target="_blank">Spirits</a></li><li><a href="http://www.eve-online.com/itemdatabase/tradegoods/passengers/3810.asp" target="_blank">Marines</a></li><li><a href="http://www.eve-online.com/itemdatabase/tradegoods/industrialgoods/17897.asp" target="_blank">High tech small arms</a></li></ol>You need the second two to defend the first two from corp thieves. Thus its very imporatn to have as much of number 4 as number 3. Also, having a badger 2 filled entirely with shuttles is also a a good choice.
