This does intrigue me, but requires so much time dedication. I think Im gonna download the 14 day trial once exams are done in a bit here and tool around again.
I'm gonna download the trial. I don't have alot of time for MMORPGs to be honest but hopefully it's more pick up and play than WoW, which I pay for every month so my sister can use it because I must log on for an hour or 2 at the most each month.

Do you guys have a corporation or are you just mucking around in empire? I used to play with goons [not goonfleet, I was a pirate with Kage Getsu etc... I hate goonfleet <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />] but quit after a while. In a few weeks, once I get some cash flow, I'm looking to play again. You guys have got me more amped for it... I gotta get a job soon. Haha.
What corporations are you all in? Anything co-ordinated, or just playing with pubbies?

I wonder who actually read the fact that I'm CEO of my own corporation, so to answer your question mr.awesome. It's on the hardcore spectrum of EVE, we're in 0.0 and we're mucking about something fierce.
*edit*
And it's a <i>good</i> corporation, nearly 20 members now I think, been established 3 months and we're now in 0.0, in a very enjoyable alliance.
EVE is fun. I have a question though. Are there hi-poly models for the ships and stations and hi-res textures? Just curious -- I think it would help with the appearance of the stations, for example.

No, but the graphics are several years old at the moment, which is why they've re-written the graphics engine which will be deployed (along with re-done and improved ship models and station models etc) in a few weeks/months I believe, it's part of the Kali roll-out.
And my corp's name is Aristotle Enterprises of the Ethereal Dawn alliance. We're operating out in Curse region.

ended up stopping because i was bored <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
what fun stuff is there to do in that game? i kinda ended up just skilling up away from the computer, coming back and doing like a mission or two before getting bored again and logging out.

Player Interaction, it's that simple. Playing EVE by yourself is like comparing masturbating to an orgy with a dozen hot supermodels (the supermodels being your corpmates, er, wait, that didn't come out right <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> )
Anywho, the fun stuff all happens in inter-corp and inter-alliance warfare and conflict and general shenanigans (also trading and co-operating and such is fun too)
And curse... well, let's just say Curse is hot and I'm the fire, baby. And my corpmates are also fire. And some of them are charcoal briquettes. One guy is a hamburger, but that's just confusing.
Iv been playing for almost a year now with a little break here or there. I have achieved quite a bit but now i just logon to switch skills. Think i need a new goal to get my interest back, but i urge anyone reading to have a go on a trial account it can be a very rewarding game. If anyone operates down in Molden Heath drop me your nick.

While your simile is somewhat inappropriate, I can see what you mean about interaction being an important part of EVE. Anyway...
I'm getting a real kick out of EVE, honestly. I got an account 4 days ago. Basically, I've teched up a Tristan and I'm trying to do missions. My real question is this -- how do I make ungodly amounts of money? Are there benefits of being in 0.0 (apart from having no consequences for PvP murders)?
Also <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" /> where can I go to get a look at the Gallente Titan?

Firstly, my simile was entirely appropriate for a mature audience.
Secondly, the uber-moneh comes from doing either:
a. Level 4 agent missions repeatedly b. Moving unmentionable volumes of trade goods around to where they might be profitable. c. Moving much more appropriate volumes of useful ships, goods, and modules to 0.0 where they are rare and sell for oodles. d. Do 6/10 or higher complexes in lowsec and 0.0 with your corp mates/alliance mates and share the wealth. e. Go to 0.0 and kill other people with your corp mates/alliance mates and steal your victim's pricy faction and T2 loot and share the wealth with your mates. f. Go to 0.0, grab a good ship and kill npc battleship spawns that appear in the asteroid belts out there, each one being worth about 500k-1.85M each, and they often spawn in groups of three. (mucho moolahs)
Thirdly, One does not simply walk into 0.0. Zero-Sec space is loaded with alliances and corporations that generally speaking, want to kill you. (with the exception of the Interstellar Starbase Syndicate. Whom only want your money to go into their stations) Flying alone in 0.0 space is not inherently dangerous. It's only dangerous when the other guys are moving around and looking for prey, and you don't know how to move in 0.0 (there are many tricks to surviving).
Fourthly, the only Titan currently constructed in the EVE universe is the Avatar, the Amarrian Titan which is flown by the pilot Cyvok, of the Ascendant Frontier alliance, and unless you're in ASCN you don't want to see the titan anyway. Besides, you probably won't even be able to find it what with the massive amounts of death that ASCN is capable of administering.
And to be again, blunt. EVE is not a solo game, if you at any point find yourself not enjoying the game anymore. Get Some Friends! Join a Corp!

Thanks! this is very helpful. As relates to 0.0, I have to say that PvP does not appeal to me so much -- and I can hear you typing it already, "stay out of low-sec areas, then". Yeah. I hear ya. For now I'm killin' some dumb NPC pirates.
And anyway... getting <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" /> by people who have played for months doesn't sound fun. Having a corp would be great but I think I should wait until I find the right one. Would a corp be interested in my 60k SP, 1.8MISK butt? I'm thinking about upgrading from my Tristan to a Catalyst.
Of the options you have described, a, d, f, are the most appealing. I think that once I start venturing into 0.5 and below, I should find a corp so that I can roll with a posse. Only then would options e, b and c be more appealing.
I confess that my goal is to eventually pick up a Brulix or Eos class gunboat. The new rigs changes would make it possible for me to put some missiles on there too, which would make me even happier. Cuz' I gotta have goals....
Thanks for the help. Hopefully I can eventually hook up with some other NS people in EVE...
