That wasn't flaming tbh, the censored word was a less polite version of "dump person". If you've got nothing better to add to a thread than trying to start flames, get out of it plox.

    start flames? never!
i would never call shinji an incessantly whining little ###### that could have been the most awesome pilot of giant robots to walk the earth if it had not been for the fact that his voice that was three measures too high to be considered male, the fact that he cried about his mother every six seconds and the fact that his dad probably did things to him while he slept.

Okay okay okay. Ranma ½ is fun. The anime is pretty drawn-out, as manga adaptions often are. Read the manga instead.
Then there's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eden:_It%27s_an_Endless_World" target="_blank">Eden</a>. This one is not for those who have a low resistance versus awesome, failing your saving throw may lead to obsession, and death by starvation may occur. Failing your saving throw versus "omg my favourite character just had her lower torso torn off by a landmine, then got shot in the head by a high-powered sniper-rifle by one of her friends to ease her suffering" may also cause trouble. There's also sex. And plot. Violence, sex, plot. What more can you ask for?
The same author, Hiroki Endo, has also drawn short stories, of which there are currently two volumes. They, too, feature violence, sex and plot. And the drawing style is, like in Eden, top-notch. AND they stand completely on their own, so you don't make any commitment by buying them. They're great for getting a taste for his style. You know, violence, sex, plot. <i>WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?</i>

    What does plox mean?
  • BlackMageBlackMage [citation needed] Join Date: 2003-06-18 Member: 17474Members, Constellation
it might mean "pants" i'm running it against known phrases in stupidese just to be sure.

Paraphraised: Watch the End of Evangelion. Its a movie. Its good. With what I said up top, you'll understand.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Its not a good film. I found Bloodrayne more interesting than EoE.

The first thirty minutes were good but then the film just tries too hard to be "deep" and comes out as some film thats so jumbled together it just falls apart. Not to mention the fact that the whole thing felt like a massive "###### you" to the people who actully liked the series. Although it can probably be said that the series was going downhill anyway.

NGE was the first anime I watched, but it really isn't all its cracked up to be.

I completely disagree. I got a bit of a primer before seeing it(within 3 days of its US DVD release and first english time) because I was in its rather hardcore fanfiction community(www.evafics.org if you don't believe <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />). I understood almost all of it, and what I didn't understand I quickly picked up from watching it a 2nd and 3rd time.

    So it's like most other animes then BM? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

One thing I always noticed... the japanese know how to start well and have a meaty middle but they could probably do with learning the 'end' part from the west perhaps.

How far west are you talking about, because I know that in NA,we don't have a lot to teach on ending stuff. We rarely ever end things, and if we do its after like 8 years on air. Otherwise it just goes till its canceled and then drops off completely. Which honestly, a ###### ending is better than no ending at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

I could write a big fat list like the others, but I just wanted to say that as much as I like anime as a medium, I hesitate to deal with stereotypes. What I mean to say is simply, I like it, but I don't think liking anime (or manga) should be differentiated from liking television or movies or foreign films. Those too can move me or leave me in hysterics i.e. Pulse. So when it comes down to it, asking people why they like anime is bound to have a complicated answer. I mean, technically, my mom likes anime. But guess what, she doesn't even know what anime is, so how can that be possible? Well it just so happens that she's a huge fan of Agatha Christie, and the "Mystery!" series on PBS, and I let her watch "The Animated Adventures of Poirot and Miss Marple" which, what do you know, was animated by a studio in Japan. (Though she watched it in english.) I mean, that's pretty friggin' diverse.

It's because they often blow their entire budget on the first episode, to attract viewers. Once they've got them hooked, they can slack off a bit.

If you've seen the show, he's referring to, you'd probably agree. You may also dislike it as I do. But I'm guessing you haven't, do not however, take that as a sign that you should see it, because you will come out of it in deficit. (And as far as the postcount war goes, I've already retired from the last one, spamming just doesn't hold the same joys as being a reactionary.)

I've been watching the second season of Black Lagoon and... irunno. It's disappointing so far. The twins thing was just plain wierd and I really liked the plot line they had going on at the end of the first season where Rock was delving into Revy's past. The action on Black Lagoon is cool but eh... wish they would leaven it with something to make me care about the characters.

I totally agree with BM's summary of Last Exile. Even worse for me, I watched it till ep 25 with a reeeeally long interval before I got hold of the last ep. It was awesome till 25 but.... 26 was really omgWTH?

I'm kinda in the middle of Planetes but it hasn't engaged me very much. I love the concept though. Also on my to watch list is Noein which has a really cool animation style.
