The movie was.. argh. It doesn't really do the series justice. You can watch it but don't expect it to tie everything up neatly, its much too haphazard. The characters weren't as developed as they could have been. I would compare it to watching Serenity (the movie) after watching Firefly. A few characters shine in the movie but it makes the rest of the characters seem woefully underdeveloped.

uh-huh, I wasn't too blown away by the FMA movie either despite the series being really good.
Some people think it ties things up nicely, for me it just felt like they threw a bunch of weird stuff in with alternate universe nonsense and some of the plot felt a bit weak as well as it being missing character development like zero said. Heck I even felt there was some needed background between the last ep and the movie missing in some ways.
Is this really by the same people who did the series??? :/
Nanoha looks really interesting!!! I'll have to go hunt that down :D

So you liked FMA, Quaunaut? Hmm I'm going to start compiling some recommendations for you, based on that and how you respond to the movie.
If you can break down what elements of the show impressed you the most, then that would be most helpful.

Another Nanoha parody, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FZN3qFb578" target="_blank">Based on Suzumiya Haruhi's opening</a>.
Note about fansubs for Nanoha - The only fansub I know of for Nanoha(in english) is by Triad, and their job on Nanoha is really good. So in you want to watch it on youtube or bit torrent it, watch/download it with Triad as the fansub.
Now, I didn't really talk about Nanoha on my first post about the show, so here is some stuff -
Nanoha is a magical girl series, but it's not really your usual magical girl series. For one thing, it's targeted at teen males and older, and not really kids or girls. There is only hints of romance, but there is no romance in the show what so ever. There is though, some where emotional parts of the show.
The first season (without A's) has a lot of emotional parts to it, and some focus on combat scenes, often, near the end. The second season (with A's), it gets really focused on combat, and less of emotional parts. I actually had quite a few tears on certain parts in Nanoha just because it was so sad, touching, and awesome at the same time at how remarkably good this magical girl show is and how it's *really different from what I'm used to seeing.
*Then again, I've only seen a few magical girl series where I actually watched quite a few episodes. This includes, card captor sakura, sailor moon, mermaid melody, and mew mew power. So that's not really a whole lot, but Nanoha is a magical girl series for an older audience(it shows at midnight only in Japan from what I heard).
Another thing about the show that is interesting, the characters look and act a lot older than they are in the anime. Nanoha is in the third grade, and suppose to be 9 years old, but she looks a lot closer to 13(except slightly shorter), and acts and talks about stuff like an adult. Almost all the 'kids' in Nanoha are like that.
*Then again, it does happen quite often in anime. I mean who would want to watch a show where 9 year olds act like 9 year olds? In most anime, ignore the ages of the characters, it usually means nothing.
You should just go visit the forum I linked in my above post, or go to en.wikipedia.org for the Nanoha article for more information.

For some good ol' red-blooded American comic-bookin, I picked up <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Knight-Returns-Frank-Miller/dp/1563893428/sr=8-1/qid=1167419116/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-5584338-3617519?ie=UTF8&s=books" target="_blank">this</a> at the bookstore the other day.
I don't really read comic books, but I thought it was pretty awesome.
<a href="http://s2.supload.com/files/default/moe_imouto_org-p-116739227038143.jpg" target="_blank">Click for picture of StrikerS</a>, wow 4 new characters(that makes 11 mages if they're mages).
I hope the knights still are useful in combat, or at least still have enough camera time. It better not be like DBZ, where every non Sayian was useless in combat and died all the time.
<b>Edit:</b> I just noticed, StrikerS will take place <b>TEN(10) years after A's</b>, not 6 like the end of A's showed. My gorge, no more lolicon goodness anymore. At least when they were 15 they were still teens. Now they're adults, no. Just no.
Also, the new characters appear to be allies, so the knights may not have a lot of screen time as well.
Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate better be the main characters still.
To my last statement the reason why I said that: 1. The red haired kid is Fate's adopted son.
2. The blue haired girl appears to be a fan of Nanoha, as she keeps a picture of her(From one of the Manga shots).
3. Also, it is explained that Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate are teachers for students.
So, doesn't this all point to: Nanoha and the other guys are no longer the main character, but serve as a guidance to the new generation, the new main characters?
Everytime a series does this, where the main characters get replaced by new main characters and just serve as a guidance for the new main characters, they all went downhill for me. They all fail.
