i was into airsoft in high school. unless you make a LOT of money, you'll end up spending all of your meager earnings on this addicting hobby, only to eventually become estranged from it and be left with useless toys.
god damn, i wish i had joined the wrestling team or something instead of spending thousands of hard-earned near minimum wage dollars on plastic guns.
i didnt like airsoft that much, its expensive. Well yer its fun, but i preferred paintball to airsoft its not that expensive, and its fun! nothing better than to give someone a stinging souvenir that will last for about a week or 2. besides splattering paint all over the place, isnt that a paradise?!
i may not be the girliest girl, but its a heck of alot of fun.
lame for me to post wikis airsoft article,but it has good stuff on there <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft</a>

well i just sorta grew up and grew out of it. financially, airsoft guns are a liability and not an asset (obviously). it's something that's pretty fun to do for a while, but eventually the guns break down (moving parts made of plastic), you stop playing as much, your friends grow out of it, etc. i started playing in freshman year when nobody really had a steady girlfriend or other timesinks so our circle of buddies was all into it. we played in the woods with like 14 people, it was pretty nice.
as it went on, people started playing sports, getting jobs, hooking up with girls, having more/harder classes and more work, etc. a lot of people didn't end up selling their guns on ebay or anything and as far as i know, were left with their couple hundred dollar guns collecting dust.
as you get out of the house or whatever, it's much easier to pick up a game of paintball with some friends. airsoft is more a niche hobby.
my personal advice? if you need to do it, go for it... try not to sink that much of your money into it. give yourself a limit. if you have a job, tell yourself you're going to spend, oh, 500 bucks total on airsoft, ever, excepting BBs and whatnot you might need more of. don't get caught in the trap of buying more guns and more equipment and more sh*. it comes down to doing what you want for fun... while still being openminded about the future and not crippling yourself by not saving any money.
Airsoft was pretty fun. It's been like 6 years since the last time I used my airsoft gun. Now I remembered I have a SPAS 12 at home, which I can sell for a decent amount of munnay <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" />
I saw <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fyd_h5nfXDA" target="_blank"><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->this<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></a> operation irene held in usa (uk has Town assault) hed in a militry training village <img src="http://www.townassault.com/myimages/copehill_west.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> this is town assaults one has about one thousand people in it and as you can see looks pretty cool opeeration irene is set around black hawk down. Thats what caught my eye in air soft.
You are never in your life going to participate in a gigantic Airsoft quasi-military operation. That's like getting interested in Counterstrike because you saw team3d win a million dollars in the CPL, or getting interested in basketball because you saw Michael Jordan pull all these crazy shots off. What's actually going to happen is you and a bunch of friends are going to run around the woods shooting plastic balls at each other with realistic looking guns that have giant bits of orange plastic on the front to keep police from shooting you.
In fact any one can join as long as you can get to the place and are over 18 maybe not the usa version but It is possible to join the uk version there is an entry fee and you need your own eqipment but I could If I wanted <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Not in the UK! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
The best thing to do would be to get down to your nearest site with a rental option. Go there, have a day skirmishing and then come to your conclusions from that.
Actually, BB guns in the UK are sold with red plastic barrel tips. Airsofts can only be unpainted if they're used in a LICENSED AREA, and not just out in your mates front garden. If you're stupid enough to use them in public, then the police will have no qualms in shooting you if you get rowdy, because that's basically what the plastic barrel tips are for. So they can see it's a toy. If they shoot you, and your airsoft gun has no red or orange barrel, then they have much fewer comebacks.

the ones my friends and i would buy were imported from Japan, where they use a sort of acrylic paint or some ish to finish the flash hider of the weapon. we would just rub that ish off with alcohol, son! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I can assure you they aren't. There is no regulation in the UK that states that the flash-hider must be orange. Only the US enforces that.
All the guns I've purchased in the UK came without an orange flash-hider.
It depends some do some don't I was looking at AEG they are expensive <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
well he says BB gun, are you sure you're not confusing airsoft with BB guns ? besides the orange/red cap is there for _your_ protection.
you have no foot to stand on, if you get shot at or shot,by the authority, because of you having a "gun" that looks authentic. Since the police don't take any risks anymore that is.
I think it depends if they are spring electric or gas powerered and if they spin the ball realyl but air soft and bb guns are really the same thing I think bb guns are just a cheap version spring.
airsoft guns fire light plastic 6mm rounds at under 350fps (some rifles fire at 400+fps but you'll get kicked off of a field for even thinking about engaging a target at under 10m) bb guns fire .177cal (4.425 mm) metal rounds really freaking fast and are made to kill small animals
As a "sport" I don't see the attraction of airsoft over paintball. Perhaps if you're really into detailed replicas of guns and realistic military simulations... but to me paintball seems much more fun.

more range, higher velocity projectiles ea energy?
making them more powerful.
yes,but aren't airsoft more powerful ?

Than paintball you mean?
I REALLY don't think so.
seeing paintballs are huge in comparison, and needs more energy to make em move fast enough to rupture on impact......
im talking BB guns...
where the heck did you pull paintball guns out of my last post...
BBguns != Paintball guns
