Takes less preperation to go airsofting. You can do it anywhere, the ammo is SUPER cheap (11 zilllion airsoft BBs for $10) and you don't have to worry about washing anything off your clothes afterwards. You can also get a decent airsoft spring pistol for like $25. You can also airsoft in your basement.
Having done both, I think paintball is more fun. Only thing is, it takes more prep to go play paintball (Unless you live within walking distance of a paintball field), you and your friends can grab your airsofts and go shoot at each other within a minutes notice.
Also if you are a ######, airsoft hurts less (But isn't that part of the fun in paintball anyway?).
I didn't think paitnballing hurt unless its under 5 meters to be honest. paitnballing is more fun but they both have atractions you can be have more tactics with airsoft.

If you are wearing a semi-baggy sweatshirt, odds are that unless the person is right next to you, you won't feel an airsoft hit at all. They just don't carry enough energy(Then again I've never been shot by a gas-powered airsoft gun...). Paintballs on the other hand are definetly noticable no matter how many layers you are wearing.
airsoft is amazing....my only suggestion is to wear eye protection, since the bb's travel at speeds enough to blind you quite easily.. other than that I think its great fun!!

And that's my problem. How do you regulate anything in airsoft?
Honesty if you get caught cheating your sent off and you get 3 marks and can get banned from some places. honesty is rewarded. I didn't think paintballing hurt maybe it was just me. I ordered one of these pretty cheap the other day <img src="http://www.geniestuff.co.uk/htdocs/softairrapidfireg36.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> good one to start with.

In the UK where the regulations are a little tighter than the US all the guns are chronographed at the strat of a skirmish. If its higher than 328fps you can't use it.
I think the other bit of attraction to Airsoft over Paintball is the fact that the kit I'm using looks and acts like the real thing. That and because theres no danger of paint or anything you can quite happilly run round with some expensive stuff. Oh and CQB is a lot easier to do <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
And one of the main downsides of Airsoft, is that a good majority of the people who actively engage in it are (for the want of a better phrase) SAS-wannabe nutjobs.
And as long as you wear something other than a tshirt under whatever boiler suit they give you, you take a hell of a lot of force out of a paintball round...

im talking BB guns... where the heck did you pull paintball guns out of my last post...
