vanilla NS, unless you execute a votemap for co (also vanilla) by saying "co co_faceoff." Also, bots can be added or removed if there are less than 5 real players with "/wb add" and "/wb remove"
After a co map completes, the map cycle automatically goes back to ns, so after a co map, you are guaranteed to go back to ns.
Jiggly's has a great player base I play with all the time, but the ping has issues for all but west coast people, so hopefully NSA can improve on that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
This is a good example of an idea that can benefit the server. There is no personal conotation to it, it looks like everyone will benefit from it not just the poster or a select group of individuals.
Firewater doesn't care about opinions or advice..... this thread is merely a advertisement for his server.
I'm 34 years old, I have played NS since day one. I have added my 2 cents on this forum for years and donated when Charlie needed it most. I feel I have received my moneys worth throughout the years and have no regret.
Unfortunately, with all the game changes and sheer amount of rude gamers I encounter on each and every server.... the love affair with NS is fading fast. You get ragged on for adding constructive criticism, you get ragged on for praising game related material, you just can't win.
Now I don't think this is game specific. Personally, I think these problems are inherent to any on-line game with such a broad age group and maturity level. As far as this thread is concerned, I offered my opinion and that's all I can do.....whether they are taken seriously or not isn't up to me. And that is ok ....I got it out there
Firewater, I'm sure your server will be great and plenty busy once you get it all worked out. But you posted this thread in a public forum looking for "help". You will get replies with the bad....accept it. You do indeed seem to be getting very defensive as the pages go on here.
One thing you can't deny, there are a great deal of folks still passionate about NS.... you should be concentrating on this group as they ARE the future of this game.

Why not just disclude reserved slots entirely aside from maybe admins who need access to the server immediately if a hacker is reaking havoc? Why create a status symbol of that level at all? Keep contributors, just don't include a reserved slot in the package, make it an icon and maybe some other superficial power like the ability to shoot rockets in the readyroom (which is quite popular on g4b2s) and a contrib icon beside their name. Maby give them a vote into community polls that aren't normally made public or something.
As long as it was controlled you could also run reserved slot lotteries to give out slots for a temporary period of time. It would mean more to the people who got them because they would be part of a seriously exclusive group, and it would be hardly noticed by the normal players, one or two players at any given time being able to log in instantly rather then waiting for someone else to leave.
Anyways. Ideas aside.
IMO the biggest problems with NSA today are a perception of unfair administration, that is to say in the past alot of admins have taken certain leisures with their powers and people don't trust that at NSA admin powers will not be used to tilt the game against their favor, or discriminate against them.
And the second biggest problem is destructive behavior on the part of NSA players. NSA seems to be very bad for surprise sensory and surprise DC drops, also stacking is very popular at NSA. Basically a large percentage of NSA players for whatever reason are griefers.
The problem with a thread like this is that most of the time people tend to dance around the issue of actually defining the problem, in this case the problem that is keeping the server from being popular, and offer a bunch of vague and poorly contextualized suggestions. I'm sorry if my stating the problems as I see them clearly are seen as too gruff or rude, I basically said your admins suck and your players suck <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />, but the point is that you NEED to address the source of the problems here, not try to implement a bunch of idealistic suggestions to mask the fact that the problems exist until they get worse and can no longer be ignored. Most of these 'original suggestions' you could have come up with yourself. I know it's tempting to listen to the guy who blows flowers up your ###### first, because he'd like to prevent insulting you by not telling you the problem to your face, but in this case I don't think you guys have that luxury any more if you want to get your way. Listen to the offensive angry guy. He might be a ######, but at least he knows what's wrong.
I don't think you should give reserved slots to ANYONE except admins. It creates a segregation within the community and will just lead straight back here.
As another YO admin, and server operator, we have always maintained a strict policy on reserved slots. We have enough for up to 6 additional YO admins to connect if need be, or if we just fancy invading. The reserved slots thing is what I think has single handedly killed your server.
You need to come up with something else to promote interest in the server - perhaps some special event evenings, and maybe introduce a regular community with icons similar to ours. Reserved slots are bad mmkay?
Additionally, don't think you need to reward donators with res slots - perhaps downgrade to an icon and maybe some additional non-game related privelages, like you get being a constie member here.

I've played on NSA a few times, and I like it. Unlike Lt. Panic above, I found the server to be mildly "sociable"; we had a "reuinion" of one of my old clans, and never at one point did anyone tell us to SUYF. Other than that, the games were fine and it was fun. Good server IMO.

Play less combat, and put up with less disrespect from the cs players you seemingly gave the server over to. Ban more people, and let the responsible players play in peace.

It's hardly ever on combat. The players are generally respectful and <i>try</i> to teach noobs.
As for banning people... what? Who needs to be banned?
<b>Edit:</b> Oh, and PLEASE figure out a way to block jointeamone/two. Stacking is the single problem with the server in my eyes.
