Well, I've gotten bored and skipped all around the levels in HL1 and it was still boring. Really, singleplayer FPS games are almost always boring to me, but whatever, I don't care if you like HL1 or not...good for you if you enjoyed it. STALKER looks promising because of the AI but coming from someone who has watched all the trailers and seen some of the screenshots I can tell you it doesn't look nearly as good as Doom 3 and really isn't as good as HL2 either. It certainly is gritty which is a welcome change from some of these smooth/shiny people but (and I'm not bashing STALKER) it definitely doesn't look as good as HL2 or D3. The open-ended gameplay and stand alone AI are definitely noteworthy but I worry about the story...I don't like some dealer or whatever it's called randomly generating quests for you and I don't like how unrealistic it is to have 1 guy sitting behind a desk for the whole game without being attacked or moving around or anything. I -really- do not like that silver gun either, it looks very fake. The only other thing I worry about is how all the enemies look the same; it's ok for the headcrab-scientist things in HL because it was normal for the scientists to wear identical clothing and the headcrab obscured his face so it didn't feel like you were fighting a bunch of clones. D3 did a fairly good job (and I did worry at first) of making small variations on basic creatures like zombies like giving them different weapons and touching up their faces just a little bit. I think developers should change little features on a skin so that each of the human enemies/monsters with faces are unique with very little work involved.

I doubt the lady would have the time to change clothes in the heat of a revolt, plus on a technical side that model is too low-poly for a main character.

As for HL2, HL's AI was basically just doing kinky things with waypoints... I'm interested to see how Valve improves upon this, and how bloody long it's going to take them -.-
The whole flashlight+darkness thing in Doom3 really annoys me, you think such a huge facility would have more emergency lighting....

I'm not gonna claim this game is realistic by any means, but very least that aspect of the story IS covered.
