    Well, as you can tell by the fact that I haven't released anything yet, I didn't even pay lip service to my timetable for releasing a beta. Women are the devil!     Real life has slowed down again now, said woman is now gone for the summer, and my last day of work is monday, so you guys can expect a lot more work out of me in the near future. Hopefully I'll be able to get out a beta in a week or so.

    it just doesnt look a very computerish room, what with the pipes and the water... its gota aloote aqua, and seems to have abundance of ducts.     You should leave the rooms unnamed and then just post screenshots and get people to offer names.     Looking very good, though I think the first shot is a bit too bright (even if its looking good!)

    I also dont think that data core hive will work out very well, dont get me wrong here, I think it looks amazing, but however it wont play well because of a couple of reasons:

    a) Underwater RT will be very annoying to build both as a marine and as a gorge
    b) The hive is just too small, it will be a nightmare to SG rush it or try to drop chambers and so on.
    c) Very VERY JP friendly.
    d) almost all the hive area is covered in water - will be a living hell for the marines to fight in...

    umm... do they expect the coolant pipes to burst or something? Otherwise why would they add a flushing mechanism... I'd suggest something like "coolant control" or something to explain why they expect the pipes to burst (like stress from temp changes or something)

    EDIT: I've also been pouring through the forum lately to find out what happened with this map, been looking forward to it for awhile

If it weren't for the feedback from the forums I probably would have quit working on this long ago. As of my last compile a few minutes ago there are some new areas that look good enough to show you. I'm probably happy enough with these areas to have them in this form in the final release, but I'd definately like feedback on them.

    Mess Hall is good, check tex alignment on that back wall though. Mabye you could have a little cafeteria counter just for details sake?

    looks great, only problem i see is you may be adding too much detail, may take from the gameplay. MAY. like all the lil things comin off the walls, lil angled pieces here and there, all looks great, hopefully it doesn't hinder movement.

    I'm liberally using clip brushes just to stay under the clipnodes limit, so I think it will be ok in most places. There are a few areas of the steam tunnels that I could see that becoming a problem, but I'll find that out in playtesting.

    I made one dumpy dm map for the original unreal, but aside from that and little tests this is my first map.

    I'm going to put in all the essential entities first and see where I am with respect to the count before I make another particle system. I'm making pretty much all of the internal glass breakable so that adds a lot, but I also don't really like doors. We'll see how it comes out.
