starchy, you should know by now that single word responses showing disapproval of something without reasons to back it up are very discouraged around here.
I don't have broadband yet but will be getting near the end of november (approx.). (Heck, i don't even have a phoneline yet, only getting one for broadband... in fact until about a month ago I didn't even have a PC (long story), I took out a £3000 pound loan because I thought HL2 would be out end of september).
So do I wait until I can buy the gold package? Or do I buy the box but play it earlier (I thought about buying both and keeping the box pristine but then realised there is no way I could stop myself from fondling the contents!).
PS. Still gonna get my HL Tattoo, just been delayed a bit because I found out you can't donate blood for a year afterwards!

When it does you would of only lost £30/$50 over a period of many years while gained 1000s of hours of entertainment. There isnt much you can buy these days with that kind of value for money.

HL2 Gold preordered on Steam and the standard box pre-ordered a year ago from Amazon what the hell I'm gonna do with two copies I'm unsure but I have lots of moneys at the moment.

Ive beaten HL 4 times an opposing force 2, as well as They Hunger twice, and practically every other single player HL mod once.

Steam wont die for years and years
When it does you would of only lost £30/$50 over a period of many years while gained 1000s of hours of entertainment. There isnt much you can buy these days with that kind of value for money. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
I mean why the hell does it matter or not if you have a damned box/discs. If Steam goes down, the discs and box won't mean a damn, you won't be able to play it whether you purchased it through Steam or from a retailer.
I just really want a hard copy manual I can read when I'm trying to sleep, and the fact that I can't download even the slightest thing off steam doesn't really help my decision to go that method either (stupid university internet service <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
