Actually I think that was just a bit of bad luck with the random shotgun spread. My aim is ever so slightly off target and the pellets probably all spread to that side.
For all this talk about "bad" frags in Radial, the frags are actually the last thing you can complain about. No other NS movie has ever had such a consistently strong frag lineup and I doubt any future ones will be able to trump it. There are a few mediocre frags in it, but 98% of the frags are great fun to watch and took great skill/luck to pull off.

Phil's fade frag: Even I might be able to pull off such fade gren kills. Obiviously I'm never going to do such thing but there really isn't that much skill included. Phil sure is a good marine, but its not difficult to track a fade like that, the pistol whip isn't perfect and there isn't any awesome movement related stuff. It is entertaining, maybe even the best frag in the vid for some people, but please don't call it a skill show-off frag. Its a funny one-in-a-million incident. Mop's Mustang fade lmg'ing in west skylights is perfect use of the weapons if you ask me.

I wanted to comment on one thing someone said in this thread and thats that there might be pub footage, but its best to clarify that clan tags seemed to go out of fashion for a while and people change their nick every 2 months, so even in official matches people wouldnt have tags (probably because everyone knows who everyone else is even if they fakenick)

It's a pleasant surprise to see that at least some players, the same from the movie, are criticizing their own frags.
As a sidenote, exigent's ascension video did have some decent teamwork frags. For the most part, teamwork frags are boring unless there is the rare instance of fade pairs or lerk-fade pairs fighting a group of marines. The problem is that most of the time the higher lifeforms have to go back to heal several times before any frags are made and by that time it's still boring because it is just mop up work, as seen in all the fade footage in the movie - except maybe the footage on caged in vent, which had a little bit of skill involved (but was still near a hive).

I agree it was impressive. It's not so much the hive healing effect that I was drawing attention to - I thought it was probably easier for him to do what he did because the marines are under more pressure while in the hive location. I don't know whether the hive was up or not, and if other aliens were spawning at the same time - if this was the case, then it was definitely easier because the marines are more prone to making mistakes. However, all he really did in the end was blink up and luckily not get shot in the process. I remember seeing footage of a similar situation where the fade just got ripped up instead - I think it was terror vs obscure on caged in the CAL finals a while ago?

Dunno about that, I remember plenty of good players from the 2.0 til 3.0 era that were easily as good as some of the players in this video. Of course, it was easier to 'look' good in earlier versions due to their opponents not having figured out how to handle some situations in the game, as well as things like skulks having no upgrades, ever, but that doesn't mean the players were bad.
Yes they were good compared to the players at the time they played and im pretty sure they could be as good in this version if they just played as much but the thing is alien play from the earlier version looks crap compared to nowdays, i think it is the combination of lesser evolved play and the limited aircontrol in earlier versions.
Aircontrol wasn't limited... it's just that speeds have generally been upped, including free upgrades for more or less mandatory celerity, plus walljump.
