So the President of SOE Tweeted the first Render of Planetside Next. What do you guys think http://twitter.com/j_smedley

But yeah, if you still get vehicles off of vehicle pads then I believe the explanation for that is that they're constructed on-demand (with nanites!), which means there's no reason why the paintwork should be scuffed. It ought to look factory-fresh. Then again, maybe that's a screenshot with battle damage? One can hope.
I don't care what the tanks physically look like (especially since it looks like they're going to be the same as last time...), I'd just like the Prowler to not suck this time around.
Shortest range + lowest speed = intense frustration.
Also poor handling and big target profile. Its main strength was that it completely murdered infantry. The Vanguard was good at that too, but the Prowler easily took the prize in that contest. It could also beat anything at short range, but getting there with enough armour left was an issue. With a good gunner it was a capable medium-range combatant too, but the learning curve was about as steep as the shell trajectory - the two being rather related to each other.

QUOTE

A couple of different sources have now contacted us to confirm that the unrevealed Planetside sequel/remake Planetside Next will support “thousands†of players across the battlefield, in a manner similar to the original. Given the appearance of a couple of different images based on models from vehicles appearing in the old game, it looks like Planetside Next will be a straight-up remake of the original concept, albeit it with a different balance, as apparently the Galaxy (pictured) will play an even more important role in the game this time around.
Another source suggests that the game will be scaled to support “low-end†machines as old as six years. (So by implication pixel shader 3.0 cards and higher.) The game will apparently be launching in March, with a beta starting next month. Don't think I'll be holding my breath till beta comes. I hope they at least give direct invites to all old subscribers when it does come, though.

I don't get how it can be so close to completion (ETA March??) and they haven't even announced it yet... unless maybe it's not much more than a graphical update and rebalance of the original... which would explain why it is expected to work on older systems...

Too bad the texture artist still makes bland textures.

Remember that the image that you're looking at is taken INSIDE 3ds max so you won't see any funky engine effects going on such as proper lighting.
However, this basically sums up how I feel.
