All creatures have extractable DNA. This DNA can be sampled by getting closer to a creature and using the Transfuser.
DNA can be crafted into a “serum” at a Centrifuge. Serums affect living things on contact, and can affect the player or creatures in a few ways.
-- The player can apply to their own skin, which gives them the ability for about a minute.
-- They can be loaded into the Propulsion Cannon, and launched through the water. When it hits something, it creates a “cloud” that lasts for 10 seconds, which will affect any player or creature that touches it for 20 seconds.
-- They can also be injected into a creature egg - when the egg hatches, that creature now has that DNA effect permanently.
-- Examples: a Reefback serum might cause immediate growth, a Jelly-Ray serum causes glowing, a Bone Shark serum might give carapace (damage resistance), an Oculus serum might give light-sensitivity, which allows you to see in the dark.
DNA samples can also be used as research ingredients, or for crafting in general.
Guidelines
Anything Rabbit-Ray sized or smaller can't really damage you, heal you, or be used for a DNA sample. "Not enough mass for DNA sample" - when trying to use Transfuser on minor creature. So we can skip creating effects for the fish-like creatures.
These are all are passive (ie, no buttons to trigger or use them).
You only have one main DNA/serum effect at a time, so we just have up to one shader for each (YouTube video). They are temporary. If you inject another while one is active, it switches to that one, including visual effect. However, for 3-5 seconds, the old ability is shrinking in effectiveness, so you actually have two active at once.
This means it's about deciding ahead of time which serums you'll need then applying them at the right time to overcome obstacles.

There you go.
Well, if I think about it it could also just mean that they can have different plants on their backs. It´s a bit confusingn with that wording.

I think that just means they function as mobile planters. So maybe we can plant things on them, but not actually make bases.
I too have read that they plan to use a leash command to make small fish follow the Reefback and its reef along with it being a mobile planter and having rare flora on its back. These are all Dev ideas and they aren't confirmed, though

https://trello.com/c/qYw8ck4P/5922-acidic-brine; player should survive roughly 10 seconds inside, without protection. use trigger volumes to apply damage to anything inside.
prefab names:
LostRiver_BonesField_LakeBorderFading
LostRiver_BonesField_Lake
LostRiver_BonesField_Lake_Nosurface
its possible that trigger volumes overlap!

make it so that consumers of base power wait for a specific minimum of power to switch on. 5 or so for the fabricator, similar for the workbench, 50 or so for water filter and moonpool.

Ghost Trees Chamber, now with even more trees!
(the area seems to be expanded too)
And the Tree Cove - ILZ transition is also done!
LR is gorgeous.
when you get close to them they disappear. and i don,t like kittens
How about "Every time you double post we all get progressively more annoyed at you?"
What about return on topic..shall we?
For PVP and multiplayer, sure, balancing buffs is important, but this is SP exploration stuff.
These things are HUUUGE!
If I understand correctly, they are going to be mobile platforms for us to set bases and growbeds on... ???
Anyway, update on my favourite subject: the central chamber, as I call it, got some interior done.
From my understanding, that was never said to happen. Someone here had the idea, but the devs never spoke about it.
Gonna need a link to that, as I looked and couldn't find it.
There you go.
