Im actually pretty new to 3ds Max, but ill have a try at something simple if ya want (i.e. the pylon) to get myself started.. i managed to complete ONE of the tutorials for it..
Well, i would do if 3ds Max wasnt playin silly buggers with me.. i THINK ill be able to get away with using GMax for it... ive started, and save a bit of it.. just need to see it itll open..
know anywhere i can get some larger reference pics for the Pylon tho? coz i could do with some so i can get the ring right...

Ok, theres an updated version of it. What ive done is made (originally) 4 large extrusions.. One of these was deleted to make the gap on it. I then added the 4 smaller extrusions to fill in the large emtpy spaces... If there too big, tell me, ill redo the ring, so i can make then smaller... altho that will double the polys.. its currently at 928 <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
im now going to (after my lunch) angle the extrusions in towards the middle.. then taper them to (almost) a point. after that, a bit more work, and it should be ready for someone to skin.
ok, heres the model now, with a bit more work on it.. i could really do with being able to smooth some of the extrusions out, but with it being gmax, not 3dsMax, i cant find that (i know theyre essentially the same, but hey). If anyone knows, if you can tell me, that would be helpful.

Ok, I'm a new modeler and nowhere near the talent level you guys are at yet, but I've been working on a shield battery. Tell me what you think =). I'm not done with it, I still have to add little hooks at the end of the 8 things sticking out. And could anyone tell me for to make a ring instad of a cylinder? I can't seem to find a way how and its bothering me since it doesnt look right being a cylinder instead of a ring. And my brother said he MIGHT (depending how they turn out...) have a go at skinning one or two of em.
