I thought of mine myself. In CS this was the nick I used when I was being terribly silly, so I thought I'd use it in NS for starters (as the apparent complexity suggested that I would spend lots of time looking silly). In the end it stuck, and I've grown quite attached to it. And roflfighter woulda been too stupid. My usual nick (which I use everywhere else) is Squid Fizzy, Squid or SquidFizzy. It's also my own creation (man I'm proud ^^), and now more than four years old I think. Could even have had its five-year jubilee already.
My real name is Roca (i hope noone knows me here )

Pjofsky is a long story, so... I won't tell you it. Instead, I'll tell you about my other cool name, Sythawf. It all started when the scorpian that hovars without flapping trend started. Someone wanted to abbreviate the long name to STHWF, so I just added some vowels and stuff, and I think it looks awesome.
Brave Ulysses from Cream's "Tales Of Brave Ulysses". I've only ever used that name here (and on some other boards).
But on other boards I've used names like:
Jagganatha - Sanskrit for "Lord of this world" and a common Indian name. We get our English word "juggernaut" from it.
Uranium Miner / Agent Uranium - the first comes from a track by Joshua Norton Cabal called "Uranium Mining On Pluto". I quite liked its sound. The second came from a game called The Specialists where a group of us formed a one-off-for-that-particular-game "clan" and attached "Agent" to our names. Alas we never had someone called Orange join us...
Sergei Molotov - a character from Empire Earth (Flayra did some programming on it and Squeal Like A Pig did a tonne of artwork for it). I don't particularly consider him "cool" even though he comes from Russia in the future, but I liked his name so I used it.
Shamil Basayev - a Chechen Warrior I admire so I stole his name for one particular (Sierra's Half- Life) forum.
Mr. Small The Watch Repairer Man - a song by a band I love called Kaleidoscope (from Britain, not the American one - though I do like the American band too).
My first came from my AOL days. I was about 10 and 'psychonick' was taken, so I put in my birthday year. I really don't want to talk about it...
My next one was Jefe. 2 years ago in Spanish class my teacher found out I was moving to Kansas City. Their football team is the Cheifs, and in Jefe is spanish for Cheif. I first used Hefe but grew annoyed with it and changed it to its true form, which everyone seems to mispronounce.
I also went as monk for about 2 weeks, but then went back to Jefe. I also used Red Mage when forming me and Black Mage's clan (it was based on 8-bit theater) but then we reverted back to our old names.
Now off to black mage's house to get my power cable back, my mouse is dying...
My current name is the final evolution of a long, long series of names in the search for something original and not totally awful.
First I was simply The Scorpion. I registered for something or other, lost the password, tried to re-register and of course The Scorpion was taken. So I changed one letter and got The Skorpion.
Now, The Skorpion's hardly very original or unique, so I started looking for a better one, on the basis of originality. What I finally stumbled on was "SoulMuncha", and according to a quick search on the CLQ nobody else had thought of it. Don't ask how I thought of that, I have no idea. About this time I started playing Diablo 2, and for some reason I made a lot of Necromancer characters. I've accrued many varients on "SoulMuncha" from that - SoulFlame (from the blue fire with faces in it from the necromancer's pose in the character selection screen), SoulBlade, SoulSmoke, SoulWrath, you get the idea. I've used many of these names for various RPG games when the spelling of "SoulMuncha" was deemed inappropriate.
Anyways, I decided that SoulMuncha sounded a bit silly, and I went through another phase of trying out names. I won't mention some of them (way too embarassing) but then finally remembered my old name of The Skorpion. The penny dropped, and I just sandwitched them together.
The avatar came much later. I don't remember why, but I decided I needed a symbol (for forum avatars, perhaps ). So I came up with an S modified to look like a scorpion. And the blue hair is a joke
For the record, in real life I repel nicknames as oil repels water, except for simple modifications of my name. The coolest sounding real life nickname I (almost) acquired was "Dark Angel" after I expressed my utter scorn for the vast majority of the human race. But it doesn't roll off the tongue easily, and it's not nearly unique enough to use as a netname.
Fina - (Half-Life, Tribes2) - My favorite character from an old Dreamcast game named Skies of Arcadia. I've been running a fansite for the game for around two years. It's the largest English site for the game out there. Fina is a female character, though. So many people think that I'm a woman in-game. The game isn't very popular, so I've never seen anyone else using the name.
Aquilae - (BF1942, some others) - It's the name of a constellation, I believe. I also used to be a huge Descent fan, and in Descent 2 you visited Zeta Aquilae. I thought it was a awesome name that nobody uses, so it's kinda became just mine.
back in the day, like tribes1 times, i was Zelgadis, named after the anime character Zelgadis. and he is so cool. hes jsut really cool, believe me. but i got sick of the fanboys asking me trivia about the anime, and other people mispelling zelgadis, so i changed my nick to a name everyone was calling me anyway!
ive been Zel so long now that in real life i will respond to it as much as my real name.
I made this one up.. and have been using it for about a year now. Before that, I used Max, which was short for Maxim, which is a character from Lufia.. but so many games only allow 4 letters for your main characters name.. so I shortened it to Max.

not all names of mine have been significant... but in RPGs (especially the MMO- variety), yer name's gonna have SOMETHING. you have no idea how many idiots on Ragnarok Online have the name of a f*cking STAT in in their name... i even spotted a poor b*stard named Agi Thief!!!!
-since maybe 199.... nineteen ninety............ 8 maybe. 1998. i was Maverik244 ("randomly mutated" (what i call it) from the Marvel Comics character Maverick)
-after that, Venom224 (again, Marvel Comics, except i messed up on the 244 but didnt feel like resetting)
-IronHydra: random short-duration name
-from there (1999) i used Venom6. just a random number at the end. but it's stuck with me ever since then for everything except msg boards.
-Zig: of course we all know Zero Wing. good times.
-Jin-Roh: from the anime Jin-Roh. pure genius, that. watch it. it's not some crap about the twin flying supersaiyan battousais and the seven gems or some crappy crap. means wolf-man if i remember correctly.
RPG NAMES:
-Ameli: a spanish MG that looks like an MG42. dont feel like pulling a Sheena so i won't. i've pulled a Sheena with the Ameli before.
-Sigfod: an alias of the nord god Odin, meaning Father of Battle. others are... broad-hat and some other stupid things. but father of battle is cool.
I was trying out for a TFC Clan when Half-Life was jsut becoming popular. And they aid you needed a name that started with a k that goes along with the type pf clan they happened to be running. So they gav eme ka0s and well it has stuck since. Althoguh it looks bad with tags, looks fine just pubing with people.

yeah there was a thread like this a while ago. I ended up with beast, because its a corruption of my surname, and a school nickname (from a decade or more ago).
Previously I used Deadmeat, Bodycount, Endymion and various others, but only BeAst has stuck.
I got Reven about 2 years ago when someone mispelled my old alias "Raven" and it sort of caught on .

Battlezone 1 and 2 is a first-person strategy game, similar to ns, but its not a shooter. U sit well-protected inside a tough tank most of the time . SiLeNcEr-7 is some ship from a Star Wars themed book that I haven't even read, in alternating caps, my new nickname is Pulse, I've used SiLeNcEr-7 for years, and I'm starting to hate it, Pulse is short, easy to pronounce and type, sounds cool, and is fairly original, so I use it for everything but NS, I haven't changed it here yet to avoid confusion, but I really need to get around to asking a mod to change my name (hey there Nem *wink wink* *nudge nudge* *elbow* *shove* *punch* *kick* *shotgun blast*).

QUOTE

PS.
