You've got a strong piping theme in the RR, so continue it in the main map. Have a source for the pipes and then make twisting corridors and areas that follow the pipes convulted journey thtoughout the facility. with the pipes ending at the device they are powering. Perhaps it would be saucy if you had the Marine start as the origin of the pipes, and then players could follow the pipes all the way to the hive in which is a huge device that the pipes supply power or coolant to?
For inspiration, watch a lot of sci-fi movies such as the Alien Trilogy; you'll get a lot of cool ideas from it!
Tequila: nice idea but...one of the hives is <u>power extraction</u> and as it is i dont really wanna add anymore of the piping as it really adds to the .rad load!!!! The power is being extracted from the ground(planet)! the only thing that the power is being used for so far is the blue lights,
marine start will probably be changed to something more appropriate but for now its staying as is!
I better put a storyline up so you can understand what im trying to do. but i only have the bare bones of a story line.
If anybody wants to help with the storyline i'd be greatful!!!

On your map layout I saw the following to the bottom right hand corner. Call it Gaffe, as the builders made it bigger than they should, they breached a wall into a cave and there hibernating was a gorge. The atmosphere can be dark for once, giving the Kharaa a chance.
Dimly lit so the rines have to use their flashlights. All maps I've seen favour the rines with bright lights and they never have to use flashlights. Doesn't the power fade, or lights blow leaving dark areas, might start a new trend.
I have other ideas but I'll stop there. Hope you like this idea or part thereof.
Nooby: nice idea about the breach. but the only place i have an idea for is the bottom right hive so im gonna try that out first but i'll definetly put that in somewere!!

A room blocked off by damage, broken doors, etc. that can only be accessed by short vents (so crawling marines can get in, too.) I hate how a lot of maps are just rooms and hallways with a vent or two just to make things interesting for skulks. The "secret" room could, say, have a res node and be big and circular with energy running up the walls or something. Or maybe a skylight. Maybe you could include a vertical passageway large enough for an Onos to drop out of the room (in case some idiot evolves in the room.)
Well in the RR, I must say, the lighting needs to be worked on. The pipes dont actually look like their giving off any light, as its the same tone/brightness near them and away from them.
Make the light bright by the tubes, but fade away as you get farther away. And have some rocks hanging from the ceiling, stalagmites or whatever theyre are called.
Moconnor, Ive done a start on the story. Just the beginnig tho.

The first pic has pleased my eyeballs. The second pic looks atmospheric, but trying adding a broken door...or metal support rods sprouting from the walls or even cracks. Just something to re-emphasise the decay, and darn right evilness of that doorway.
The thrid pic looks a bit rough. Again I love the centre piece being the res, as a flanked attacks could really boost the gameplay. Also the cracks in the floor are very nice eyecandy. But it looks a bit bare, or unfinished. Might be just from the pic though, so I cant really tell.
Apart from that, its looking mighty fine. Keep up the good work mate.
Indeed, it's looking sweet. However, in the 2nd pic try and draw a bit of attention to the entrance; a small red light above the door or perhaps runway-style lights running along the floor, leading fools down to their imminent demise. Also, in the 3rd pic, add a bit of light around the fringes of the room, so that you have a ring of light outwards and the light_spot focused intensely on the res node. I think you have the res node entity set too low as well; you should be able to see a metallic base from which the white clouds of goodness float <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

A maintenance corridor with a power pipe that runs across the large-ish white area. The pipe could be broken with small amounts of blue fluid that spills like a dripping tap, and gives a strobe affect. Slowly giving off light then darkness, instead of a vent. A couple of dead maintenance worker bodies on the floor near the break.
The bottom, middle room with the res node, have a nice reasonably large crystal/crystalline structure for the sheer heck of it. So people playing the map for the first time get ambushed in there. Cruel/evil thought, haha.
The bottom right corner room. On the top right hand corner of the room you have a tunnel that goes out to the right, then up, then left back to a corridor? Why not make the tunnel a ragged cave like tunnel that is not perfectly cut sides and top and bottom? A naturally occurring tunnel with some mineral deposits for minimum light.
