the update brings problems with its solutions, like every other update.....
Here's a HUGE fix I found on the tech support forums... If you are receiving the "Error validating Steam ID" error, then you need to re-validate your email address.
This can be done by opening up the Settings window in Steam and clicking on Verify Email Address!

Since this morning's update was released, the Steam network has been overloaded, causing many Steam users to be unable to login.
Until the Steam content servers are able to catch up with demand, some users will continue to experience slowness or unresponsiveness from the Steam client. We've been making some changes to the content servers today to accelerate this recovery, and we expect conditions to improve quite a bit by tomorrow morning.
Thanks, again, for your patience after this update.

if any of you get the SteamUserticket error, just log out and back in again. Solves it every time.
If you are unlucky enough to get: Steam.exe (main exception): Win32 StructureException at 01680447 : Attempt to write to virtuial address 343116817 without appropiate access wrights.

HA HA HA norn thats pretty good, Stolezred. I was getting hammered last night trying to play it was too laggy for me to even try. So I just gave up and went to bed.
If this happens now with the current halflife engine and mods what about when hl2 is released and people buy it through steam. whoaa that will be some fun weeks of gaming there
My question is, how many people are having this problem? I gave up on steam last night, came on this morning and its still not working..Stupid rollout bugs Truth is, a properly planned rollout should have redundency checks and everything if they plan on having a successful rollout. They shouldn't have made the download available to all users at once or something like that, as to not overload the network. I dunno, i just want my steam to work; I'm sick, bored, and off work for a weak and i have nothing to do
I was working fine last night. I'm just not getting any kind of connection now. If you are getting any actual errors other than cannot connect more than likely you need to reinstall steam.
Already tried that..first i tried uninstalling then reinstalling steam..didn't work..then i tried unstalling halflife and everything, then reinstalling everything..didn't work..and now i can't even contact steam to get the update for steam..boo :| oh well..i'll wait..i can be patient *twitches*..i'll just go dig out my gi jos and aliens toys and pretend that i'm playing ns on my living room floor..hahaha..But yes, it is just a connection problem, i know steams down and/or just getting raped by users trying to download the update..

I had lag too. I deleted ClientRegistry.blob and rerun steam. The file will be recreated in the update. Worked for me, normal pings again

Now I'm semi-annoyed as the e-mail I set up my Steam account under unexpectedly went AWOL. Ah well. I'm used to having 130 ping or so be the max, but now in game it's 200-500, and everything is like a slideshow.
I'm not sure if it's my folder, my connection, or steam in general.
It's happening in CS too.
I believe once i receieve this email and enter the code the 'steam ticket validation error' wont happen anymore, but has anybody actually had this phantom email?
someone tell me i forgot
