Personally, I find it difficult to praise a lot of what has happened with the game, it does not read very positively.
The game was released late, and in a poor state even when late, for months patches were released to try to fix what was… -

Isn't that kind of a semantics argument though?
By making the distinction between the rendering engine and the rendering engine plus the game code, you're kind of removing a big chunk of the actual game part of t… -

Unfortunately, the dev team have specializations.
Which is to say, a decent chunk of them can't help with performance, because they wouldn't know how to, being practiced in other areas of game development.<… -
CoD started with leaning, I'm still not sure why they took it out other than it being too complicated control-wise to fit on a controller.

Again, every other mechanic in the game is a better mechanic than bunnyhopping.
Except possibly walljumping.
But apart from that, all of the other movement options in the game are cool and interesting. Skulk wallwalkin… -
Almost all other movement mechanics in the game are fun. Jetpacks are fun, flying is fun, teleporting is fun. Tribes skiing is fun since that was mentioned.

Like I said, I disagree with the idea that fiddling with the skulk jumping mechanics is all the class needs. It's not good enough as far as I'm concerned.
I have no objection to bunnyhopping as a skulk equivalent to sha… -

My objection there is that a W3/A3 marine with a rifle is still quite good. It's not going to stop an onos but it can kill cysts and individual structures easily, put out a respectable amount of firepower, and is combat effective f… -
Which I would translate to 'we added in a pistol and you can switch firemodes on it!!!'
Still not really making me very excited.
I just don't see how bunnyhopping or any of the various jump-button based mechanics being… -
They do do damage and I think they do a not insignificant amount of it too. Nothing insane but enough to make you not want to touch it.

Yes you can replace it with shotguns, if you don't like shotguns. I would probably agree, shotguns aren't exactly the most inspired weapon option in the world. I would entirely support a motion to replace shotguns with something more interesting, th…

I'm sad I got rid of my amiga, giant beefy keyboard with a floppy drive in the side was awesome.
Played the hell out of james pond 2: robocod when I was little. -
Welcome to natural selection, post NS1 v1.05-ish.

Curiously no. At least I'd say not. The shotgun can of course probably kill a skulk faster in ideal circumstances, but the flamethrower can kill many skulks at a moderate pace in any circumstances, with any level of skill.(Quote)
Because, fascinatingly, there is an awful lot to NS2 that isn't the skulk.
Almost every other class in the game is (or can be) very much based around things other than movement mechanics. Marine aiming is delight…If the balance version makes it easy to bounce around, I really don't see the point in it. Why is bouncing around better than just moving? I simply do not find it engaging, I don't find walljumping engaging, I have no desire to learn these movement …They're extremely easy to use and somewhat disconcerting for aliens. They're also extremely good at killing skulks though almost everything is, you won't find much better against skulks than the flamethrower though.
Also yeah they kill i…(Quote)
That too, actually, aiming is extremely simple in NS2, as you say you point and click, movement would therefore have to be press and go. Bunnyhopping and most of the proposed movement mechanics in general, actually, are far more co…(Quote)
Well I'd probably counter by saying that as far as I'm concerned, 1. I don't really think that bunnyhopping is a particularly deep mechanic in and of itself, it's just a timing puzzle added to the sprint key, all the other depth is…(Quote)
You can have easy mechanics with a challenging game.

To you, perhaps, not to me. I have trouble with timing and fine motor control, which is why I prefer games which emphasise thought and planning and tactics. I can accept that aiming ability is necessarily a component of any FPS gam…(Quote)
That patently cannot be true, if you give skulks a powerful and effective new movement option which is difficult to use, then skulks have to be balanced around that. If a skulk can bunnyhop and receive a significant buff from…Conversely, some people, such as myself, find that introducing a complex and fiddly movement mechanic as a basic element of the game, as opposed to a move faster button, to be far more uninteresting because it takes time away from the bits of the ga…
(Quote) While the NS2 upgrade system leaves a lot to be desired, I do have to say that at the very least, it doesn't have any straight upgrades other than from the very basic equipment. That in itself is still a problem, because i…(Quote) What?
