Please stop it, everyone. There's nothing here that's sufficiently at stake for any of you to start attacking one another. Some of you are being a tad aggressive in your arguments with one another; try to remember to stick to the in When the next update Comment by Insane May 2016

Blood Mushroom = Deep Shroom. In our development file system, most of the files associated with them are named some variant on "blood_mushroom".

We're not stuck, just need to take a little longer to make sure it's a good experience. Don't worry, its still happening!

You should already be hearing unique music for quite a few of those zones. For example here's the Blood Kelp music, which I think fits your description rather well.

I'll definitely submit something for this but the way things are going for me this week, it will almost certainly be late. Oh well!

All right, I think this thread has reached the point at which we put an end to it.
If you truly are only twelve years old then you need to be a lot more careful online. Offering to give out your Skype details to total strangers in exchan… -
Very possibly! The one problem with that as an explanation, though, is that everything else is as bright/dark as I would expect (the bright spots on the floor for example).

This is really cool! I wish I'd seen this when it happened. I found it quite inspiring so I thought I'd take a crack at it myself, even though it's months late.
I spent about six or seven hours on this. I cheated a little - the main floo… -
If you want to use this thread, as originally intended I am sure, to critique aspects of our communication, then that's a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
Continue to use it to make attacks on any individual and it's going straight in t… -

The Future Perfect team have been working on Subnautica since May. FP had a four-strong team; two of us now work on Subnautica, and the other two moved from UWE. Unfortunately the two of us simply don't represent sufficient resourc… -
The Earth and Moon are technically orbiting each other. However their barycentre (common centre of gravity between two orbiting objects) is inside the Earth, so to all intents and purposes the Moon can be said to be orbiting the Earth. This a…

Yes. I apologise for not clarifying this, but you'll need to switch to experimental mode to see it. -
Shh! I reckon there's at least another two weeks in this until they find out they've been paying me to pretend to work on this. Don't ruin this for me!
Seriously though, if you know how to get to Sparse Reef, it's accessible through one … -

Yes, that was the first thing we tried, after it became apparent that procedural generation by itself would never hit the feel and quality of the concept art. Unfortunately this approach created more problems than it solved, since … -
They aren't very big, but there are two caves already, and probably one more to be added.

I wasn't expecting this much enthusiasm for the new biome so soon, so thanks for that!
I have a question for those of you have been exploring it: are you finding it too difficult to orient yourselves and explore or is it ok? I think some… -
We'd love to have a huge, huge world, but it's an issue of resources. As other folks have pointed out, everything in our world is completely hand-crafted. We experimented with procedural generation, like Minecraft or No Man's Sky, but we weren't hap…

04Leonhardt has the right of it. I ran into the same issue when I was taking screenshots for the update. It turns out that the "day", "night" or "daynightspeed 0" cheats basically stop time for a lot of things in game, including th… -
For those of you who follow the Trello page, Blood Kelp won't actually be in the Seamoth Update, it's planned for the next one. The reason it's in that doing column is so that people can see what I'm working on during this update cycle.

Given that the question of guns in Subnautica can clearly be a sticky enough topic as it is, let's leave the issue of actual, real-life gun ownership out of this, please. That's exactly the sort of thing that can derail a thread like this into off-t…

This left a big smile on my face. Thanks so much for sharing!

Game engines use triangles because they are the simplest possible polygon, which means they are the easiest to render.
The lessons show creating non-triangulated models because they are usually easier for the artist to work with. It's us… -
That's the high poly version of the observatory and there's two of them in the one file, which is why the poly count is as high as it is. I think the low-poly version that's in game will be roughly 18,000 triangles.

The "final" map will be a version of what is currently being built, yes, although we hope to keep adding to it after we leave Early Access and release v1.0.
We're unlikely to go wider for now, we're focusing on detailing the unfinished a… -
