They need to change glass production back to using sand. If players could make as many windows as possible, it would show off the game world (and lower our base strength) so much more as well as making people happy.
-
That would work alot better. Plus it would give a purpose to all those dozens of fragments we find.
-
I don't know about a permanent field, but maybe you could hold the field up so long as the gun has power. Giving you a little more time to escape from what ever monster you pissed off and is coming to eat you!
-
What about harvestable fruits from the big island? I wouldn't mind trying some martian citrus. Mmmmm.
-
I'm not totally sold on the idea of analyzing fragments for blueprints. I mean, there's only so much you can learn from a broken chunk of circuit board or a scrap of metal. I mean, you cant gleen the blueprint of a house from a few nails.

Fair enough, hot fusion is possible and cold fusion would be neat but if we are going futuristic we could do antimatter or warp reactors (derived from the warpers, not star trek lol)
-
Id say both fusion and dark matter reactors sit firmly in fiction, since fusion normally only occurs under unbelievably epic circumstances. Either fission or hydrogen generators would be feasible for our survivor. Although we could always go another…

If we use lasers to construct items, it means we have matter transmission technology. Why cant we break down items and store the matter in a drive of some sort? Personally id prefer that to dozens of lockers that tilt your cyclops to one side or the…
-
For a time when man has the technology to make dark matter reactors, anti-gravity and matter transmission and storage. I'd think a small fission reactor would be childs play.

I'm hoping they don't make the solar panels too OP. As an unlimited power source it should charge slowly and be somewhat costly to build.
-
I don't see why pausing the simulation while the player is away from the area would be unsuitable. Also, random ecological events could be possible with this system. Like condition A (Huge number of fish deaths in an area) plus condition 2 (unusual …
-
That would be amazing. Someone should make a thread specifically about this concept so it gets more attention.
-
I whole heartedly agree with having area specific events such as this. (And that theoretical event 'brown tide' is the most hilariously amazing idea I've read on this forum so far lol). Also, Doesn't the death and decomposition of huge sea creatures…

Cant eat the mushrooms anymore. The item description is now "pure acid" lol.

This looks like a fantastic idea. A fully developed science system could provide many many hours of fun distraction!

I don't think its too big. Once weather is implemented, I think we will want a sturdy port of call to hunker down in.
-
Yup, rogue waves when you least expect em could be interesting. Would also make the shallow reefs a dangerous place during storms. Wouldn't want to be slammed into coral repeatedly.
-
Even communicating with the other ship that is coming behind the Aurora would provide some distraction, as well as giving our protagonist hope. Even if they aren't slated to arrive for 15 years.

That's my thinking, Conscioussoul. To prevent the onset of insanity there needs to be a task or hard objective. Infinity causes insanity. Stakhanov said earlier about a 3 pronged goal involving Zoology, Archaeology, and Starship Repair. This sounds …

I Agree with the point that things are needed to enhance your "lonely and rather boring life on this water world". We REALLY need some items to fix/reduce the effects of loneliness. I know some have said that loneliness is the point, but NO. Lonelin…

Why cant we collect samples of those species? Tranquilizing and capturing or genetic cloning would allow up close scanning. :-)
-
I agree with TerraBlade. The weather needs to have a noticable impact on the player. It would be a travesty if it ended up like minecraft rain and just annoyed everyone!
-
That looks great man, you make that yourself or find that somewhere? Any PDA style interface is well welcomed
-
Like a tidal generator ya? Excellent idea. Anything that can regenerate the sub is welcome news. I'm plain sick of looking for copper for batteries!
-
My point is that a game that forces the player to be in a depressed state will not get played very long. Sure its novel to be stranded and alone, but really god damn boring. Wildlife and craftables only go so far to keep you entertained, but if you …
-
Besides, multiplayer is highly unlikely to be more than joining a friends game and not random drop ins. So any vulgarity or childish naming will be between you and your friends
-
Yep, excellent idea for all the hardcore enthusiasts that love a good challenge. The entry way to the sub could act as a decompression chamber even. Just because something makes the game harder, it doesn't mean worse.

I too like the current names, but, the option to name it upon discovery would be great. Like you get a screen when you discover a floater that says 'new species discovered' and says 'floater' in a text box (or even on your pda) that you can edit. A…

Actually the consumption seems right to me, you have to remember that we are using old school acid and copper based batteries to power this monster. I think what it needs is some kind of fuel source or maybe a sustainable energy source like deployab…

I like that alot. Perhaps even with multiple endings to encourage multiple play thrus. All of coarse soft endings that allow you to continue on in some respect (unless you blew the planet up or the planet regects your presence)
