(Quote) Could you please provide a source for unique ns2 players? Perhaps vapour-ware is a preferable term, it feels remarkably close. With UWE completely abandoning it largely unfinished *just look at the game code, it's prototype quality*. Even…

When people played NS2c, it was a lot more enjoyable than NS2 at the time. But this game is rather dead these days. It's been 4 months since the last update, and 1 month since the last progress update.

Beacon is way too OP when used well. You can entirely become invincible in small games quite easily.
The problem with this game is everything is OP to some extent. You're battling OP technology against OP technology. Once one side gets a… -
In Garrysmod the hook for hearing players has a dual purpose for positional voice communication, in NS2 it has a single purpose.

Why not? It'll be good to find bugs, rather than wait another month for the next release for critical bugs. -
Performance is a major. Also no skill based game should allow the sorts of exploits this game actively thrives upon. UWE never understood balance != who wins 50% of matches. That's only a portion of it, the portion which shouldn't be addressed. You …

(Quote) I see your point, is there a branch available to play the latest test builds? These would be quite popular among a certain group of players.

Oh, yes it will. Look at NS1, has better gameplay and runs well on everyone's machines. But it's dead and old. -

It would have made a bit more sense to push the massive performance improvement patch, and what's done so far. And then work on updating to VS2013, as it isn't exactly a necessary requirement. 2 months is a good amount of time to l… -
They should use glNext, not dx12!! It requires an extensive recoding anyway, not to mention glNext will be for all platforms.
Also I've been using Windows 10 for the past 4 months, Win 8.1 and 7.. Yet I can easily say overall 7 is the f… -
Apart from the still broken pre-loading. It stops the micro pauses but marginally makes it load quicker from an 11gb ramdisk.

I took a pic awhile back of a Marine crouch jumping at around shoulder level. On Earth's gravity 30cm is as high as most can jump when measuring, it feels a lot higher, but it's true.

This is a great update.
My fps went from 40-110 to a stable >110.. on my laptop. Also my ping in a full server where I usually get 190-200 ping, is now 160.
There's a few more glitches, but these benefits outweigh them. So… -

It'll probably eventually need to happen anyway. The lack of pro-activeness is dismal. Performance has only been a concern after the game peaked. -
One of the dx9 installers are incompatible, the generic dx one runs and does nothing as it already has them.
-
I've managed to get it working by editing "%appdata%\Natural Selection 2\system_options.xml" Replace DX9 with DX11.

It's cool.
I just can't help but think that it was the engine where UWE went wrong. Very few people I know can run NS2 play-ably, let alone decently. A quad core Intel cpu (2008+) and a half decent video card should have been enough. -
(Quote) The CDT really need to make it update/download/temporarily mount these mods on startup.
-
Hell no, not until the performance is actually half decent.
Not everybody lives in the US or mainstream markets, I had to buy my laptop overseas from Australia for $200 just to get an nVidia 670MX and an i7 3630QM, blu-ray & 120hz mo… -
Kick needs to ban for 5-15 minutes really. It's currently pointless unless the server is full with people in a queue.
-
It's a pretty shocking game. =/ Very few good games, always one sided. I think the whole upgrading/benefits are way too advantageous.
-
The problem is movement exploitation and the ability to increase skill significantly by tweaking settings/mods, giving you an advantage.
-
Oh sh.. I thought it was a Lerk. =3
-
I'll get hated on by saying this, but it's a bit too skill based. With some flawed mechanics and designs which are exploited.
-
I think what he's getting at is that servers running an older version of the game should be filtered out by newer client versions.

Rich infestation would be amazing to have, unfortunately I'm playing on the lowest setting for everything, due to the nature of low-fps during fighting. To be honest, I think minimal looks really good. Rich looks amazing. :P

It's interesting as groups of people are crashing at the same time, 5 people crashed on the Alien team and 3 on ours at one point. I didn't realise it until I reconnected back into the game. Some people didn't crash at all, it happened 4 times to me…

By give up, after 5 minutes I decided to retry loading, which worked. Perhaps it's just a first time playing 268 problem. I haven't experienced it since, I've joined at least 20+ matches today.

The first time me and my gf tried to play 268, we each gave up and tried again. The second time it was very quick.
Cold load times have slightly increased, map change load times have reduced significantly for me.
