hey devs its been a year now, is this ever going to be implemented?

As I pointed out earlier, 100 ms of interp with 30 server updates a second means the client is buffering 3 updates. It makes sense to have a bit of safety margin since ping and server update rate will invariably fluctuate and it's worth it to trade …

All I'm going to say is that I've lost count of how many times I've seen self-proclaimed experienced admins make completely unfounded hackusations.
-
Interp will contribute to the time gap between what clients and the server sees, but interp should be set based on the frequency updates are received from the server and the variance of those intervals. Interp is a buffer so the client has two snaps…

There were HL hacks that would detect when screenshots were about to be taken and turn everything off before taking the screenshot, I wouldn't be surprised if the same could be done for NS2.
-
Except "bunnyhopping" is such a loaded term thanks to its history and most people, despite their adamant opposition to it, have no real idea of what it is. It just comes with a bunch of baggage and confuses any actual discussion, not to mention it t…

Frankly, the real problem isn't that the game is too unforgiving. Small mistakes and advantages are made all the time but games don't often snowball out of control on a single RT setup or lost, it's an accumulation of many mistakes and advantages. E…

Wouldn't even be worth discussing if devs would just include an option to turn weapon models off, like TF2.

(Quote) It takes really awful skulks if there's 5 of them unable to kill a Marine while at close range in 10 seconds LOL
-
All this whining about grenades being too spammy or hard to balance would carry more weight if it weren't directly contradicted by NS1 post 3.1, which did a great job of making them a viable option without making them a no-brainer.
-
(Quote) I've never liked cloaking myself, as far as I can tell it's another one of those ideas Flayra is in love with, like power nodes and the Khammander. But as long as it's here to stay, might as well try to make the best out of it.
-
(Quote) I see your point, but in one sense, cloaking already requires activation since the Alien needs to be stationary. Cloaking is already the least imaginative and interesting option available anyways, I think my idea would at least be an impr…

Make camo fully cloak even while moving but require player activation and consume energy. Something on the order of one second of cloaking before running out of energy without adrenaline. This solves the retarded and infuriating "Sit at a chokepoint…

IPs and PGs in the open where they're harder to surround, spaced as far away as possible so you can't camp all of them at the same time. Stop putting these in corners and against walls.
Armories, observatories, arms labs, etc all go in a corne… -
Commanding in NS is like a 20 APM job. Just about every half competent RTS player ought to be able to easily spare the attention to look at chat when something new pops up.
-
(Quote) other way around
golden is bad .__. -
The main problem with cloaking has never been balance, it was always the fact that it was incredibly unfun. Without frequent scanning and observatories, Marine play just consists of constantly running into undetectable ambushes while Alien play cons…

(Quote) ...you have your vcore at 3.6 volts?!

(Quote) This is complete bullshit. A 60 Hz monitor updates 60 times a second, period, never displays more than 60 fps. It doesn't simultaneously output 4 different frames, with each one taking up a quarter of the screen. Screen tearing happens wh…

(Quote) In another thread you stated that Chess can be won by dumb luck and confusing your opponents. You clearly have no idea what strategy is.
-
I don't know about you, but I sort of consider aiming to be a fundamental part of gameplay in an FPS. It's sort of like saying strategy isn't the only skill in a RTS.
-
(Quote) I'm pretty sure all crowd control in DOTA lasts a few seconds a most, is subject to cooldowns, and isn't spammable like everything in NS2 is. When was the last time Marines had an ability that blinded Aliens? Kritzkreig and Jarate have ch…
-
So basically what we've been seeing is that the better the players are, the more Aliens win... and you're asking me to believe if the players get even better, then we'll see more Marine wins. Yeah, no, I'm not going to buy that without some really g…

(Quote) yeah but flayra was infamously bad at his own game

(Quote) Except the Alien winrate is even HIGHER in competitive compared to pubs at the moment which is completely the opposite of what one would expect if what you were saying were true

UW make a timedemo command pls

Arc is good at NS2 partly because there's a lot of skills in NS1 that transfer over to other FPSes. Xensity and Exigent did very well in TF2 and L4D when those games just came out, but NS1 players have managed to stay in the top because somebody who…

If we're going to start banning players for being too good, when are we going to start banning them for being too bad?
-
(Quote) I think you hit the nail on the head but have only scratched the surface.
One huge difference between NS1 and NS2 is that Alien RTs no longer come from PRes. In NS1, you had a flat cost of 10 res to go Gorge, then 15 res to dr…
