How is he sacrificing his personal wellbeing, just because he decided to do something once, for 28 hours? Even if he does have a job, or education, does not mean he has to do it every day. I said this in IRC, but if he continued to do it, and completely changed his life around WoW, you might have an argument, but he didn't. I fail to see how this is any different then anything else you might want to stay awake for, to achieve. He had a goal he wanted badly enough, so he made changes to achieve that goal.
The fact that this topic isn't about people trying to swim with piranhas or who decided to spend locked in a water tank for a week doesn't mean I don't find silly, it's just not on the topic so I'm not mentioning it.
Many people do many silly things. It has nothing to do with World of Warcraft or gaming in general (I myself was a clanner when I had enough free time), it has everything to do with the measures he's taking to achieve this goal. I guess we must be having really different values if you think it's okay to skip three days of class or take a three days' leave to tire oneself (along with supporters) to a game.

Ridiculous sure, but in the end, what did he lose? Nothing. In fact, he gained a lot of things. Among a fair amount of the WoW population, he gained respect. Among the rest, they don't know his name, so he lost nothing. He spent a weekend doing something with 35 of his guild mates whom he and they had planned out all of this stuff. Thats not affecting one's personal well being- thats planning out an excursion(or in this case, an incursion).
Staying up playing a game for 28 hours with proper preparation isn't the worst thing you can do, but considering the addictiveness of mmorpg's, it reflects an incredibly more damaging habit. Stop defending it.
How is playing for 28 hours any worse then spending alot of time trying to get in the guiness book of world records? You aren't gaining really anything, and yes the time could be better spent doing something else. In the long run though, it doesn't matter. Playing a game for 28 hours isn't that bad, we don't even know if he is even addicted to the game terribly or not, he might just play the occasional few hours once a week. Maybe he just decided to try and achieve a record this once and put aside 28 hours to play a game. Big freaking deal.
It's nothing incredibly extreme either. 28 hours? What about the people who camp for days on end just to be the first in line to buy a new console? I really don't see what the big fuss is about. I bet it was fun seeing a carefully planned event come to fruition.

Someone in my guild hit 70 yesterday. Mad buggers. I'm taking it at a leisurely pace. 64 and a bit so far. Just about finished Zangamarsh.
I took some nice screenshots last night, but the sad thing is, whenever I'm at home I'm playing WoW and can't post screenshots, and whenever I'm at work I'm on the internets and posting in threads but don't have access to screenshots <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

I saw someone in Veiled Eclipse in a BG on my new paladin, (Smited... my friend was Ignited, then quit his mage. So I got stuck with a dumb name) or my rogue Sityrafaffel (both hit 26-27, but I only played the rogue once in the last few weeks) but I two-shotted him a bunch of times and then we stomped his WSG.
Frostyhole! That's the one. And it was my rogue. My paladin was only 20 at the time.

Its still in production, actually. By the time I'm done, you'll see only 3 skill buttons- one for each bar. Its an advanced concept I'm trying to get someone to create, but they've got a lot on their plate already. My UI folder is currently 93.4mb, though. Quite large.
I'll see what I can do about packaging it up. I'm 100% minimalist.
Edit: I've got the file, in <a href="http://www.7-zip.org/" target="_blank">7zip</a> format. I can either e-mail it to you, or someone can help me host it.

Its not like that. Its a situation where each button contains a bar- mousing over this button will show the rest- but the primary button itself will change depending on the last key called on that bar(by a press). This allows you to get back maximum screenspace, while stille using a insane amount of buttons.
Also: If you're using 62 buttons on any class, I can honestly say: Clean up your keys. You only need at maximum 2 ranks of 1 heal type, and everything else should be max rank stuff. Its all about efficiency.

Thaldarin asked me to post my UI in the thread, and I finally got it uploaded: Have fun. It still needs a few things updated, so be sure to use the <a href="http://www.wowace.com/wiki/WinAceUpdater" target="_blank">Ace Updater</a> before you go to play.
I went out and grabbed myself a copy of TBC today. It was probably a bad idea. No, scratch that. It was definitely a bad idea. I got home, installed, patched, patched, patched, patched.. Got into game and didn't stop playing till I leveled up (which took a while) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> I haven't left hellfire yet, but so far I'm a fair bit impressed with the expansion. Hellfire was a lot larger than I expected, but manages to have enough content that it doesn't feel empty like some of the other large areas in the game. I ran around Hellfire for a good couple of hours, and still haven't seen everything (and I haven't had to spend all that much time retreading old ground). The PVP section of the area for example, I still have not even touched. and the instances. Haven't touched those either. Hopefully the rest of the areas will retain this level of content...

Zangarmarsh is the same level of awesome. Terokar is a tad lower, but gets better near the end.
...then you hit Nagrand. Nagrand is to WoW what Karkand was to BF2: The best of the best of the best.
The best world PvP:
In the center of the map is a town on top of a "needle"(like in 1kN), called Halaa. To get to this map, there are 4 bridges from North, South, East and West. On the outer side of each bridge is a gryphon tower. Now, say the Alliance holds the town of Halaa. They get 15 Guards, with huge HP amounts- close to 100k, I believe. Now, these gryphon towers are capturable only by the Horde- taking one allows you to mount a gryphon, and ride in in a double-sweep over Halaa, with 10 bombs that do 10k damage to mobs, and 1k+dot to opposing players. The amount of guards, as well as who holds the town is at the top of the screen. Once all the guards are dead, the town is capturable. To capture it, you must raid it directly- going to the center, through the bridge, and holding the area. The town only transfers sides at 100% to your side: At which point you get 15 guards of your own, and the ability to use various NPCs to buy things, and turn in repeat quests. Killing an enemy player gives you 1 Halaa Token. Turning in a dust quest to the leader gives you 1 Research Token. Enough of these allow you to buy some neat ground mounts from the "Blade Vendor".
Otherwise, the quests are unique too: At least Hordeside, you learn more about the Orc's background on Outland, dig through some more ###### for items, meeting THE ORIGINAL Hemet Nesingwary, and even get quests from a Blademaster to start a war between a random orc clan and another ogre clan. Awesome items coupled with easily the best visuals that WoW has ever produced, with quests that are generally not boring(except for Hemet's quests).
karkand in bf2 sucked because there was no heli for me to dominate in <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> but other than that it IS kinda awesome.
