I think I remember the answer being 'no' to that, but I don't have a source. As I've told others who said they wanted to make a sylvari or asura character: I can't be sure I'm right, but plan ahead in case I am.
Meh, well, either way I still need to work out what class I'm going. I've had fun on necro and guardian but in all honesty none of the classes has truly grabbed me so far. Most of the class mechanics rub me the wrong way except the guardian's which I like because I can essentially ignore it and it gives me a pretty shield of light on my arm :3
I can't login at the moment, but in hindsight I may not even have a choice which server i'm on. I suspect it's kept my 'home' server and characters from CBT :P
You'll probably get those 2000 gems that everyone gets, so you can do a server transfer.
Also, come to think of it you've been breaking your NDA a lot up until now haven't you? According to what I've heard about it you're not even supposed to say you're in closed beta.
It's open beta so as far as i'm concerned the NDA is lifted... people are more than free to go see the game for themselves now and none of you are restricted in what you'r allowed to say :3
I was referring to before this weekend though. Also, the NDA might still apply to those who were in closed beta. They may have seen/done things in closed beta that Arenanet doesn't want released yet.
Actually Lolf, up until post 154 I've never mentioned I was in the closed betas nor talked about anything that you couldn't see from media and footage. Feel free to go back and check, you might be able to correct me on this one but I don't believe so :3
I have noooo idea what server I'm on at the moment, I didn't even get to choose, but my CBT characters are gone. So far i'm dabbling with engineer at the moment and it feels very weak when it comes to damage. Apparently, people were telling me the mesmer illusions grab aggro and are actually noticed by NPCs so I'll probably give them another stab as I love the idea behind them :3
I've got a low level Ranger. The pet is a bit disappointing- as far as I know the only commands are 'attack my target', guard/passive and one active.
I didn't realise that your number 1 skill is a basic attack and automatically repeats. Taking it out of the equation I've only got skills 2-5 to play with. Will wait and see what 6-9 do when I unlock them and if switching weapon sets is feasible.
Actually sherpa, it's a lil' more detailed than that.
Your number 1 skill is, by default, set to auto-attack and is designed to have the shortest cooldown so it will fulfil that role. It's essentially your spam ability. HOWEVER, if you shift+rightclick it, you can take auto-attack off of it to make it purely manual. This is handy when fighting certain monsters (e.g. as an engineer fighting golems who have projectile reflect it's fairly essential to turn it off) Also, you can shift+rightclick to turn apply auto-attack to any other ability you wish.
As for the ranger pet, I always had trouble telling when it was dead as they don't actually die, they just start limping and don't accept any attack commands. I actually really like the ranger's combat style, I just hate having a pet XD
Game was released on the weekend for the pre-order folk; I've finally managed to get far enough to unlock the second weapon slot (switchable mid-combat).
Adds a lot of depth to my thief (and other classes I assume) as he swaps between zipping around with his daggers to being a glass cannon with pistols.

Game is way awesome but it feels like ANet have their head up their asses on some aspects. Like locking away extra bank slots behind the cash shop pay wall. I can understand buying dumb pointless cosmetic items because that's pretty much what its there for. But locking away core fundamental game mechanics behind it? It's ###### asinine.
You do this in a F2P game. Not a £50 retail release :|
I forgot we had this thread. I <b>really </b>forgot I made it... Anyway, have some bugs. <img src="http://i45.tinypic.com/121af82.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://i49.tinypic.com/suudyq.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Also while overflow servers are a great alternative to server queues, at least you go through a queue once and then you're in. The overflow servers are constantly being ######ed about because they prevent people from playing with their friends. Anet needs to step up their game pronto in this regard.

At a rate that would take about 600 years to get the amount of gems for what you actually need therefore encouraging you to buy into the cash shop.

What you can do is buy it from other players. At no point do gems (the real money currency) enter the economy without real money being exchanged for them, which ensures that the price will remain high. Currently you get something like 285 gems for 100 silver, but that price is sure to rise as people start getting more gold and the relative value of it drops.
if anyone hasn't seen it yet,<a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/yxx3m/suspensions_for_offensive_names_and_inappropriate/" target="_blank"> this thread </a>is an absolute <b>gold mine</b>. Basically a GW2 dev explaining and posting actual chatlogs/reasons for why people have been banned. Some of them are just absolutely hilarious.

I get the feeling most of the problems are teething issues that will be shaken out quickly. I also hope they add the 'appearance re-spec' Gem Shop item soon... getting annoyed as I didn't notice a color-setting option on my main, and would really prefer not to re-roll.
That said, the bank situation is a blatant cash-grab. I do like the fact that they included a separate 'collectables' tab for salvage/crafting items, but the ridiculously limited slots on the normal bank (with a HUGE empty swath directly below as a 'gentle encouragement' to buy a bank expansion) is simply insulting. More-so when combined with the absolutely tiny player-inventory bags.
I can't say I've had much trouble with inventory space... most of the junk can be salvaged and then easily cleared out with Deposit Collectibles, and the remainder can be sold with the Sell Junk button at any karma/other vendor, so once I crafted myself four 8-slot bags my only concern was having enough salvage kit around.

What class is everyone else playing?
