Just for clarification, now that Random spawns are now back in the game, are you going to keep the original hive locations and make it so the marines have a static location, and the aliens spawn in either of the hive locations just like Ns1? That'd be fantastic if you did.
Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought i remembered a while ago in this thread you or someone else mentioned making the double resource room a tech point, is this true?

Everything will be NS1 style, including the double res. I'd like to add doors around it, but we'll see.

That tech room is Sub-sector correct?
Seems you've incorporated the darker/grungy into numerous parts of the level, but places like Marine start and eastern junction retain the original color scheme. While it certainly is a refreshing take on these areas, such as with Topographical, don't you think it would kinda take away the character that the Hive rooms had in NS1? Your certainly free to do whatever you feel is good for the level, just don't take things too far, the occasional corridor and resource room are fine.

This is a valid point. However, some parts of Veil are simply so sparse that I have to paint the canvas. I'll make it a priority to see where I may be stepping over the line. I know there is one.
A big fan above that arch would look cool, and it would sway the chains. Not sure how the shadows would look reflecting off the chains, but it may look pretty cool. Some moody sound effects would add to the atmosphere.

@Endar, not a chance. Somebody is telling tales out of school I guess. Right now I've just basically completed The Dome. That leaves:
-C12 -Pipeline -Cargo -Y Junction -Nanogrid
I've been working at a pace of a room per week. Big rooms take more time. Given all that it shouldn't be difficult to judge what my bare minimum time until release is looking like.
fire thats awesome i wish there where more maps with torches or fire cauldrons like that one you have to put it in now!!!! a fire cauldron or 2 above the hive looks awesome. only thing it is off in the theme the rest of the pics look more like an aliens themed map and that one looks like temple of doom or the avp game maps

Haha yeah, just to be clear that fire pic was not serious in the sense that it was an early, scrapped idea. I did think it was cool, but it wasn't Veil.

getting so bored with current maps. Imagine if summit wasnt released we'd be stuck with *shudder* tram and rockdown right now
And considering Rockdown was a rehash of an alpha map that I don't think was supposed to be a real game level, it is a good little arena too.

The red looks out of place here to me. Nice to see you revisiting the older areas to update them as you go along.

It is incredible what you can push out of a DX9 engine! This remake looks awsome!
But I don't see some athmospheric lights or am I blind?
