Yeah, well we're all stuck with it now hehe. I wasn't expecting the version with Veil-colors to look so awful, but it did. At least I can say I tried and discovered what a bad idea it was to mess with it.

Hey man, I messaged you back. It's nice to see the old Skybox in full, it gives me an idea of a desert landscape with a mesa that is really quite easily transferable into a daytime scene along the lines of what I'm doing now. What might seem discouraging actually seems pretty decent now.
Anyways, here's topo (albeit without the signature topographical maps that will really tie the scene together)

Topo is lookin' sexy! The middle part with the fan (I think it was a window in old veil) should be spinning for cool shadows. Maybe a window above it so the light filters through the fan blades as they turn? Would look pretty cool to have a little light streaming in from outdoors in an otherwise "cool" lighted room.

Thanks a lot fellas. As for the light beams, those are atmospheric spotlights, and my computer really struggles with them. In fact, after a few minutes of rendering them, it shuts itself down completely. Needless to say, they'll have to wait a while, it's just too big of a pain at this stage.
My next priorities are the hallway behind Topo and West Skylights
I've been mapping over the last month or so, and I'll say this....from the looks of it you've put in a great amount of hard work. The mapping process can take a very long time (sometimes painful). I've spent the last three hours on just a hallway and it's not even close to being done. This stuff takes talent, skill and dedication...and it looks like you got all three. Nice work, keep it up man.
That lightning <3 But the screens on topo should show topographical things maybe a wireframe picture of Veil itself. <img src="http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/tlorna/tlorna0910/tlorna091000969/5788507-virtual-reality-computer-generated-wire-frame-landscape-map-topography-indicated-by-mesh.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Now that i think about it, it would definitely be cool if when the power went out in Topo, all the screens would flicker out/crash/get corrupted until the node is repaired again.
I know it might not be possible right now, but the dev's should definitely look into supporting events like this.

Right. Unfortunately there is no texture like that in the current build, so those screens are just placeholders for the moment.

How about of the Half Life 1 version? Would be a cool toast to the fact that the layout remains essentially the same. This is the "topographical" equal of the original Veil. Crazy?

Doh fmpone! You are a silly man! How do you think there will still be a mapchange on any server when veil is released? It is so beautiful I want it my NS2 Menulevel! You have outdone yourself on this. Gratulations!
Looking great so far fmpone! Good to see you've honed down on this current theme appropriated from the original, feels really fresh. I am overwhelmed you have put the time into remaking this classic map, though I was eager to see you make your own map after stopping ns2_spines.
Just watched the teaser video of the Veil remake and it's fair to say i'm exceptionally impressed (Discovered my girlfriends laptop doesn't seem to like NS2 very much an refused to run so didn't get a chance for a first hand run around), not sure about everyone else but this looks like a darker, grimier Veil. Although it doesn't look like the 'clean-lab' style of the original it still has it's own distinct and unique look and feel which i'm loving.

Thank you all, too many kind words to believe. I really appreciate it, and I'm still focused on bettering the map every step of the way, with the help of a ton of helpful folks like vizionz and Mark S. Right now I'm in kind of a collecting stage, figuring out what's went well so far and what could use further adjustment.
