what can I say. I like to play under hundreds upon hundreds of anonymous names so that people never expect a good game performance out of me. I usually change my name about once a week. It just kinda seemed obvious that for all serious things that I needed a cohesive name that people could refer to me by.
So I got to thinking one day. How can I pick a name more memorable than any other name out there without directly ripping off some character name from something. And after a while it hit me, if I make someone actively think about how they use my name in a sentence every time they wanna talk about me then it's sure to stick. I started with "They" for about a day and switched to "Them", the clan tag came about an hour later which was eventually followed by an actual clan <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
So yes, I picked this name purely to annoy the crap out of people and make it memorable.
I too have the habit of constantly changing my handle. I have gone through dozens. UniversalDTOR (because ~Universe() woudlnt work in WCIII), Huskylead (robotech reference), BlackBeltWood (Last name is wood, and i am a blackbelt), Mouse (reference to Reboot), MrFlibble (Dwarfers unite), InfectiousPersonality (the crazy TFC medic), and many others.
For FeydToBlack: Was sitting in a NS game one day trying to think of a name other than fool. (someone said "whoever put up that sensory tower is a fool." what do you know, it was me) The saying "fade to black" kept going through my mind, because in NS the screen fades to black upon death. And i was a fade at the time. At the time I was also reading Dune. Found that Feyd fit perfectly into the name and the role of most player types in the game. The arrogant, egocentric, warrior/leader.

Mine is famililial too. I've used an number of aliases - I really got into online gaming in a big way with the first few betas of CS. Originally I was called Deadmeat (for the vague sense of irony) but then everyone started to be called Deadmeat. Then I went through a phase of testosterone chargedness, and switched to Bodycount, but people kept asking if I was Ice T. I went for Endymion (oooh highbrow reference) and that suited for the sci-fi stuff, but it never really conveyed the sense of brutality and carnage I like to use as a trademark - anyone thats seen me play NS will have seen that I don't care how many times I die, as long as I rip big holes outta the enemy. So. What to choose? a name embodying savagery, and entirely personal to me. I had an idea. My surname is Best, and this has always been the source of hilarity to people that think I've never heard the jokes before (worst hahahaha best bitter hahahaha george best hahahaha) so, turning it round I used my surname, whacked in a capitalised A to show it wasn't meant to be there, et voila. BeAst. Savage, personal, and with the capitals, vaguely "elite". I know theres a bunch of others out there with the name, but I think I've got as much rights to it as anyone.

It's actually from <span style='font-family:Optima'> Perfect Dark</span>. Basiclally I used to have loadsa mates around for multiplayer on the N64 and the DY357-LX quickly became the most sought after gun. I was extremely lethal with it and I decided to use it as screen-names for things like ICQ, IRC, display names in various games etc.
What's so good about the DY357LX? Well its the only good in Perfect Dark you can't find by the default means. You actually have to run upto one of the enemies (Trent Easton) and "DISARM" him. Awarding with you with the .357 golden magnum that we humbly call the DY357LX It's also has a cool feature.... the bullets shatter inside the opponent, making every shot, potentially fatel.

Kri-Rau - I loved the game The Mark of Kri, in which the main char is named Rau the Barbarian. It's the name for my barb character Smoke-Wolf - my druid. Werewolf and Dire Wolf kinda guy. SnowGuard - my paladin. I like Snow and Snow Knight was taken Smoke-Night - my Assassin. She's all dark and stuff so she gets Night DarkFreja - Freja is the Nordic goddess who is in command of the elves. Elves use bows and so does this char. In fact, she can strafe your arse to hell. Azhure_Serra - My sorc (new). I just finished the Wayfarer Redemption series and Azhure was the kick arse Goddess of the moon. Serra cuz I used to play Magic and my speciality was a deck of flying Serra Angels and other various angels and such.

That and my voice comes across the mic REAL deep and omnious and its funny to see the word kittens come up on the screen and then you start hearing Diablo (from DII) telling you to build a freaking turret.

It's actually from <span style='font-family:Optima'> Perfect Dark</span>. Basiclally I used
to have loadsa mates around for multiplayer on the N64 and the
DY357-LX quickly became the most sought after gun. I was extremely
lethal with it and I decided to use it as screen-names for things like
ICQ, IRC, display names in various games etc.
What's so good about the DY357LX?
Well its the only good in Perfect Dark you can't find by
the default means. You actually have to run upto one of the
enemies (Trent Easton) and "DISARM" him. Awarding with you
with the .357 golden magnum that we humbly call the DY357LX
It's also has a cool feature.... the bullets shatter inside the
opponent, making every shot, potentially fatel.
Yup.... I love that gun and that game.

My Half-Life name right now is D and only D . It causes a really cool bug in most games where it goes [DEAD] or *DEAD* or whatever where only the [ / *D are highlighted in color. The rest is white.

Kri-Rau - I loved the game The Mark of Kri, in which the main char is named Rau the Barbarian. It's the name for my barb character
Smoke-Wolf - my druid. Werewolf and Dire Wolf kinda guy.
SnowGuard - my paladin. I like Snow and Snow Knight was taken
Smoke-Night - my Assassin. She's all dark and stuff so she gets Night
DarkFreja - Freja is the Nordic goddess who is in command of the elves. Elves use bows and so does this char. In fact, she can strafe your arse to hell.
Azhure_Serra - My sorc (new). I just finished the Wayfarer Redemption series and Azhure was the kick arse Goddess of the moon. Serra cuz I used to play Magic and my speciality was a deck of flying Serra Angels and other various angels and such.
that's it for my names. I hate my RL name and wish I could change it but I can't think of anything that sounds cool.
