Well, hives are an exception because they are always in an "Unbuilt state" and ghosted out. It would be impossible to get hives up otherwise because it would only take a marine with an LMG to stop the progress and cost the aliens a crapload of RPs. Never fear though, marine aren;t helpless. They will often set up turrets surrounding it and the moment the hive comes up, it just gets beaten down. However, the marines in my case did not have the rps to set up turrets.
Evangelion kicks Gundam Wings ### . On an on topic note, after hearing humbaba's story I was wondering if the aliens have regeneration, and if so how fast is it right now? Roughly I mean, I know its STC.
From early stories about builder rushes where they would evolve to level 2's, build something, upgrade regeneration or carapace. I would think they do have regeneration.
Also, Longtooth, you seem to love posting in the stickies...
I didn't want to make a whole new thread for this, so I will use it here since it is loosly based on the conversation.
It is a bit silly, not only to have 12 threads showing on one page, but also to have half of them being stickied.
How about showing 20 threads per page since no one seems to read past page 1 (and GOD FORBID you post in any thread that isn't on the first page.. you.. you.. GRAVEDIGGER OMG).
Trust me I post enough as it is. I would be lynched if I posted anymore. On a side note that is should be helpfull to a few people, if you have a wireless mouse and it seems choppy in HL type m_filter 1, I just finally found it and it makes a huge difference.
I have been meaning to upgrade my RAM and my video card, but I was wondering what can possibly go wrong when doing that from a software standpoint? I know how to do all the hardware, But am I running any software risks? Such as instabability issues.

I believe it was Tanith, but I'm not sure. I was a marine with a shotgun outside a door by the spawn. Just then, the commander researched Motion Tracking. My tracking detected a alien on the other side of the door. I opened up the door. Right there, was a lvl 1 (Grendel) sitting there. And with a single point-blank shot, I nailed him.
Well, the aliens had mutilated our base while we were out killing their hives. I think we had taken down 2/3 hives and they took out our base just as we took out their 2nd hive. So, we knew we had to get to that last hive and kill it before they got another one one up.
Treaking along, about 5 of us, we slowly ran out of ammo as the waves of level 1's attacked us. I reached the door outside their hive, and a level 1 dropped down and took out my last teamate. I stood all alone, reloading with only 100 bullets left. I warily looked through the door to see 2 level 1's trying to get into hiding spots above the door.
*BLAM BLAM BLAM* 2 level 1's dropped dead on top of me as I scapered under the door. Hearing more coming, I retreated back through the door. I saw another level 1 get into the same spot as the last 2. Heh, good, I hopped through and quickly took care of him too. Seeing no more aliens, I wandered in and started pounding at their hive. 2 aliens spawned, which I quickly took care of while hopping around trying to not get bitten. I was now down to about 30 health and my 100 bullets from my LMG were depleted.
Knowing I did not have enough power to actually kill the hive, I retreated back to the door and pulle dout my pistol. A whole 20 shots between me and death. One level 1 tried a head on rush, I quickly pumped him full of 7 shots, stopping it dead. And then 2 more rushed, I got off 3 shots before the reload came, which was quickly followed by my legs being bitten off
lol this wasnt looking like a happy ending story..... it was a happy one for aliens if u take their point of view anyways most of the storys are from the last attack or the last stand........ or just a reincarnation from the ashes like a phoenix, leading to a succesfull victory. i wanna see more dramatical last standing stories

Now THAT is alien teamwork other possibilities are level5's actings as APC's for level1's who run under them or level1's riding on the backs of level3's acting as paratroopers. However, the "climbing on" works like any other playermodel-playermodel interaction in HL. If you've ever been part of a stack, you know that if one person moves, none of the others do. So if a level1 climbs onto a level5 and the level5 starts walking, the level1 will fall off.
lol it would be fun if a bob would walk over a flyer
It is the level1 alien the one that looks like a dog with claws for feet, hes the one that can walk on walls and dosen't take falling damage. The other alien nicknames are Tiny which is the level5, the one that sort of looks like a rhino, and pudgy the level2 which is the alien builder. The level4 the one that stands upright is called blinky.
