People talk about killing and or knifing lvl5's alot, it dosent impress me, but have any of the playtesters gotten a jetpack and knifed a lvl3 while its in flight? If so post the story please.
Acccccctttuuuaaallly, I have been involved in a few aerial duels, where I just happened to be a big room (like the viaduct hive on NS_Nothing), and happened to be a flier with some jetpacking Marines flying about. It was a bit hard to be a moving platform for my spike attack, and have the marine swooping about (it's not like being in a fixed-wing dogfight, where you can easily predict movement and there is a lot of forward momentum), so I ended up resorting to bite attacks in both cases. I would just swoop, glide, acquire the target, then get a few good flaps and try to catch him at the apex of his movement where he was a bit slower. A lev3's bite is very powerful (offset by how hard it is to use), so all it took was a couple lucky bites and the poor humans were falling to the earth in tatters...
Then a couple showed up with HMG's, and I was shot out of the sky by their intense combined 'anti-aircraft' fire.
lol... I have been waiting forever for MonsE's Commander story

Heh heh. I didnt get much of a chance to play lvl 2 as I was marine mostly for these battles. Well, here is my story. It's kinda funny. I was playing as a marine on Eclipse, I believe. We marines has been just hauling ### and had taken control of two hive rooms. We were all at the top of our game, and my shotty hand was being flawless on this particular eve. Well, we manage to blast our way through and secure two of the hives. We are down to one last one and I head toward it just as we finish researching jetpacks and power armor and us marines storm off toward that final hive. I wield my shiny new HMG from jetpack hops as bobs rush at us from the hive end of the hallway, and they are all blown smithereens by our superior firepower. We round a corner and enter a dark room which leads to a bright hallway on the other side. Comprox, our commander, places a siege turret at the end of the hall to attack the hive. We begin our trek through the dark room, my 2 squad mates fanning out as I run right toward the siege, hoping to bring it online before a speedy bob can reach it. I begin building and my teammates come in to take my place. They have LMGs, so I figure I'd be the best one to cover them. 2 bob rush up the ramp and are pounded to dust. We watch as the remainder of the alien team is decimated. All but one lvl 1 is dead. Comprox tells us to "Go hunting" I walk by the siege right inside the Hive room and notice the feint outline of a bob, but I am reloading my HMG from shooting into the air in celebration, and I run as fast as I can past his 50% cloaked self. I type "He's in here!". To which, I hear "Oh HERE! go there everyone"::Sarcasm::. I clarify "He's in the hive room, the recently killed one" Well, I run back to the spot i was in and type "I saw him here somewhere" "I think he was cloaked". I poke around in the infestation until Comprox selects me and, seeing the enemy from above, clicks on him, who is about 3 feet from me in a corner filled with infestation". I had been blundering around, along with the rest of the marine team, when he was right under our noses. I blast at the waypoint, unable to see my cloaked enemy. The lvl 1 is pulverized into dust before he can even move to uncloak. Team One wins.
P.S. Who was the bob again? Was it you, KFS? Whoever it was, pleas reply

yep, which is dependent on how many sensory chambers you have. 1 chamber is a very slight cloak. 2 chambers is about 50% maybe(seems about right, maybe 75 %) and 3 is total invisibility. I assume that the bob had 2 chambers.
I'm playing marines in Caged(manah's excellent map). I'm walking near alien territory when I see our commander log out and subsequently get killed. I immediately rush back to the marine spawn with my squadmates and find two level 4's assaulting what's left of our base. They died pretty easily, but we were still too late to save the CC.
So now, all that we have in our base is an infantry portal, an arms lab, and an empty resource tower. Even though we're still in the game, we have no way to get better guns, ammo, or health. The only thing that we have going for us is that we had previously taken out a hive and put a few turrets in the room where it was. So, while the aliens were slowly attacking that room to get the 3rd hive up and get their most powerful weapons, we marines decide to go on what seems like a hopeless suicide mission to clear the alien menace from the facility. Along the way, we find and destroy dozens of upgrade chambers, resource towers, and turrets, sometimes needing to use our pistols or even knives because of lack of ammo. We finally come to the second hive and destroy it fairly easily, mostly because one marine happened to have picked up an HMG that was lying around. At this point, I start to think that maybe, just MAYBE, we can pull this off.
However, there was something that none of us realized. At one point, I was killed by an alien turret near the hive room that we had occupied, and as I was watching my teammates from spectator mode, I noticed that one of them (Sgt. Bilko?) was using a welder! As soon as I spawned, I told him to come back to the marine base and rebuild the CC. He made it back despite being perilously low on ammo, then used the welder on the CC. I think all the marines rejoiced to themselves when they saw "Commander -- Sgt. Bilko" in the top of their HUD. Bilko re-built the base at the marine spawn and handed out weapons, and we went on to win the round after destroying the third hive and taking out the surviving aliens.
This story gets even better when you realize that one level 1 sneaking into our broken, defenseless base and destroying our infantry portal could have ended the game. So let that be a lesson to you commanders-to-be...always make sure that at least someone has a welder.
