You mean Subspace? Bleh.. I really begin to hate this.. I actually have this in a txt file to yell at you guys.. Here goes "****.. you guys, stop trying to pull this "Subspace only had one marine entrance" thing. Subspace had a vent by mother that you could weld open and get in to the hive. If you do it properly, you could easily set up base in there without the aliens noticing, as they never took time to cover the vent, because Marines NEVER used the vent. Only once did I see someone weld into that hive and that was when I was comming and I had to yell at the guy for a couple minutes before he actually would. Subspace had 1 Marine only entrace (weldable) 1 Alien only entrance (vent in celing) and 1 entrace for both. It was perfect." Yes, the 2nd marine entrace was a vent. So what? Aliens couldn't access the vent untill you decided to open it. Even then you can still fortify both sides of the vent and only small aliens can get through. As for onos, yes, they only have 1 entrance, but everything else has 2 (people can go gorge in the vent, The new blink allows for fades to easily get up to vents)
Look at the hives in veil. All hives have two main entrances. In caged, two main entrances. In nothing, two main entrances. Only nancy had a singular main entrance with a secondary entrance (Usually a vent).
It didnt make the map flawed in any respect, it simply made subspace very suscesptible to GL spam infinitely prolonging a game.

i always enjoyed playing nancy but as every1 probably learned that all you need was some slick teamwork on the alien team in mess and aux...gen? (right outside noname) and marines are locked down in there base...so much for expansion and conquering huh?

Yes, but if the aliens took messhall, all you had to do was put a tf in the node outside of marine start, make it advanced, then put sieges in the hallway outside of messhall and siege in. Then once you get into messhall set up another siege to hit auxillery generator. Too many people don't realize sieges work for other things <i>besides</i> killing hives.

if you stood outside messhall and looked in noname hive direction there was a door. from the other side there was a massive wall. a room that is about 16 units deep? will the new nancy als feature such fancy architecture <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
Heh, well my first goal is to remake it as exact as possible. Then I'm gonna see if DevilDog wants to do anything with it. If not I'm gonna talk to some devs about it and see if they care at all. If they show interest in getting it back and updated, I'll do the updates if needed. I'm starting to learn the "nancy style" and I like it.

Re: DD and nancy, look everyone and his dog seems to have tried to contact the guy with no response. This would seem to indicate that he doesn't give 2 hoots about what happens to his original creation. That said, the suggestion for the message in the ready room strikes me as perfect. That way, even if DD reemerges 2 years later in a wrathful state of vengance we can point to the sign and say "It's still your map". Until he says anything though I wouldn't worry about permissions etc unless someone finds some text in the original nancy files saying "This is property of DD copyright 2001 anyone who uses this map shall be impaled upon the gates of Rome" <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm almost done with cargo... so I'll have more screenshots soon. Also, I've developed a new method to how I'm doing this remake. I'm using a decompiled nancy file and copying and pasting over pieces of the map. Then I have to retexture everything (it's all aaatrigger), and then reshape just about every brush to make more sense. So the structure is just about perfect, and the texturing is probably better than the original. DevilDog left <b>a lot</b> unaligned, or aligned weird.

I am sending am e-mail to DD just to get confirmation that he doesn't mind a partial decompile, entites and textures being pulled out of the map and boxed up for download. Assuming there's no problems I will get it posted as soon as I hear back (and actually write the code to get the textures out, minor details)
Ya, minsk gave me the decmpile file. Now I'm working with two files. The decompile to rip butchered up brushes and the new file to paste them and fix them up to rebuild the map. So far the first room I've used this method on is cargo. Messhall was built from scrath just by looking at screenshots I took of the original nancy. It was a slower method though. As of now, the sections I have complete (although not final) are:
-messhall -some of the hallway outside of messhall -the area outside of messhall (other side of glass) -steps leading up to cargo/mother interface -cargo
Oh and here's a screenshot of cargo to show how well this method works:
