Yeah. Let's cut valve a wee bit of slack. They're by far the nicest developers around, aren't they?
Valve is full of idiots. They tell us we need all this ram, HD space, and bandwidth to run steam but then they can't even provide the f***ing content because they didn't anticipate this many people using it. They are just flat out stupid.

Now that steam is out, I'm not going to be doing any of that. I'm not even sure that I'm going to be playing HL2 SP.
GG Steam, kill off a gamer that's loved HL for the past 5 years or something...
Everyone who hates steam, there's a steam forum <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> It's not up now, but it will be soon hopefully! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Don't forget to flame.
Also, lyndak - can i expect to see this WON emulator proggie any time soon? There's no way I'm using steam, but I still want to play cs... preferably not 1.6 though!! So if you end up making/doing anything wiht it, choose 1.5! or 1.3! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> But yeah, keep us updated if anything happens <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> Or if it was just a passing thought, come on, everyone has thought of it, why can't you go and make it a reality for us <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

State a time and place.
It's not a WON emulation system, it basically creates a virtual private network amoungst the players and fools the HL client into thinking it's a LAN game. The problem is, you won't be able to just "Join" a server in mid game, the game has to have all players in before hand, anybody can drop out mid game, but nobody can join.
You can see the problem with this.
There may be a way around it, as HL has a completely different multiplayer system as to the games tested with this "method" -- But I'm not going down the road of arranging all of this if it's not necessary, however I will if it really happens, I'll be the first to help each and every player on setting this up <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
