16 colors at max, you would fly through space with your hover ship (which oddly enough couldn't fly), trying to leap past the obstacles through space!

Ive was thinking about modding HL to play SkyRoads a while back, but alas, I don't have the time these days.

I'de have to vote for Tie Fighter as one of the best games of all time. For as old as it is the graphics and the game play rock. I spent at least a good year of my life on that game. All the other Star Wars flying games like X-Wing and Rebel sucked hard but Tie Fighter was just plain awsome. Duke Nukem 3D took up a lot of my time as well, that game is what realy got me into first person shooters, which is pretty much all I play now.
So I leave you my nerdy face
We haven't seen Ico (for the PS2) here yet. I'm surprised. Then again, that's probably because it didn't achieve very high popularity. For your money, you get: A short game (four hours is my best yet, I could surely do it even faster if I tried) that anybody can complete (not very dificult). Sounds awful? It ain't. Why? You get a beatifully designed game, a heartwarming story, and.. well, that's it. The sheer beauty of this game never ceases to amaze me. The architecture of the castle you're trapped in seems stunningly real. Up high on the battlements? Look behind you at the parts you've already mastered, or ahead to the challenges yet to come. Allow yourself to get immersed in this game and it will swallow you whole. I have never played Alpha Centauri, so maybe I'm missing out, but this is the only game I've seen so far that even comes close to being art.
Planetscape: Torment - Such a disturbing game (the nameless one brings so much pain and suffereing to himself, it makes your skin crawl), the story was great, if not morbid!
Fallout series: Don't know if you would count this as unkown, but if you havent played it yet, then you don't know what your missing!!
I was perusing the local Wal-Mart today (A.K.A. Evil corporation #3), and I came across the "Laptop Games" pack, it has both Alpah Centauri and its expansion in it (as well as Tiger woods old golf game, Red ALert 2, and Simcity 3000, all this for $20!) should have got it, never got the expansion and lost my Alpha Centauri!
Agree with System Shock series, especailly around Halloween (Scariest...game....EVER!!)
Agree with Scarifice, such a beautiful and original fun game
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magic Obscura - RPG that mixed magic and the industrial revolution, and pulled it off quite well too!! (A dwarf with a flamethrower is always a good thing )
Freedom FOrce - Yay for a GOOD superhero simulator!! The fact that you can rip lightpost out of the ground and beat bad guys clear across the town with them is more than enough to buy this game!
American McGee's Alice - Another disturbing game, set in the wonderland universe ( a twisted wonderland universe)
The last two games were both bargin bin items under $20
If you can find these: Crusader (No Regret and No Remorse both) - I miss this game so much, I have them both still but I can find no way to play them because they are DOS games, im so sad
Sam and Max Hit The Road: Funniest Game EVER!! Actually, most of the old Lucasarts Adventure Games (Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Joes and the Search for Atlantis, Secret of Monkey Island 1 and 2) are good finds, and the SCUMMVM dos emulator runs them really well too!
Meh. Tie fighter was ok. I prefer Wing Commander II (of which I have been playing a lot, lately) as it's more challenging. Each fighter has its own quirks, so you have to adapt your tactics to match the craft you're in. The fighters in X-Wing and Tie Fighter were significantly different from each other, yes, but not nearly to the extent of Wing Commander.

Body Harvest for the N64. Travel around fricken huge maps in one of 5 time periods, steal dozens of vehicles, and kill giant bugs before they kill and/or eat people. Plus, you sorta look like Samus.
To me, not many of the games mentioned are unknown, but Starcraft? Come on, you can do better than that.
It would seem that Trespasser is a bit of a big thing in this thread, i remember having that game years back, man did it suck. And not just normal suckage, it made me want to scrape my brain and eyes rid of the foul corruption it emitted. That game was worse than....
...Myst, dear god, how can anyone bring up these excuses for "games", go buy a board game or a puzzle book, cheaper, more taxing and ultimately more worthwhile than those pieces of trash.
A lot of the time, there's a very valid reason why games are unknown, unfortunately, some games that don't deserve it get tragged down with them, like....
...Project Zero / Fatal Frame. This game, to me, is absolutely godlike, it's fun, absolutely scary, really good story and it's not finished in just a day like so many other games (*cough* metal gear solid 2). But due to the fact it never actually sold too well, i hear the sequel won't be gracing the UK shores, which is a great shame since i've been waiting for it ever since i finished it's predecessor.
Another rather obscure one which didn't do too well, but is actually very good, is Sanitarium. This was brought up in another thread recently which made me furiously dig around for the cds for it, it was an excellent game and man is it screwed up. Basically it's a quest for your identity and what the hell's going on, all based around seperate areas, akin to a puzzle game. It has grotesque visuals, creepy effects and a good smattering of blood, it truely is a fine game.
There aren't many obscure little games that i used to or do play anymore because, to be honest, they're generally not very good games. Also, games that may be unknown today may have been very popular for their time, i'm sure if you asked many kids if they'd heard of Jet Set Willy they'd not have a clue, but to me, and legions of others, it's a very popular game.
Hey, don't knock Myst. It pretty much saved the CD, and it was a pretty cool game in itself. Although, I must say I didn't really enjoy the books that much.

Has any one here besides me beat SM:AC on transcendant? I can only beat it with the gaians, but got close with the university. I'm gonna say that is also an awesome game but it's complexity will throw a lot of people off. Remember if you get the weather paradigm you can build boreholes, condensers, and echelon mirrors earlier and all of those are the bomb, especially if you Gaian because your eco bonus negates some eco damage they create. Also supply crawlers greatly speed up secret projects.

Jagged Alliance was horrendous.
Version 1.10 is comming out in a few days, with LMG's Freighters and cargo ships.

The only thing that might turn people off is that its Pay To Play ($9.99 a month).
