I absolutely love everything about this game. There is not one part that I don't enjoy. It's deeper than Fallout, it has more atmosphere than Baldur's Gate, and has a better story than Deus Ex. The bad pathfinding, mediocre combat, and tedious inventory system don't even diminish the greatness of this game. If you love games and you've avoided this game, then you're missing out on a big part of gaming history.
Best combat system ever.

So good, i still play it
For it's age, simply the best all round developed game ever.
Runner up goes to Street Fighter Alpha II, for devouring hours of my life.
And Morrowind running second <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Halo.
Half-Life.
Choose any of the above. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Reason I wanted the 8 bit Nintendo that got this whole ball rolling, and I haven't looked back since.
Although Super Mario Bros. 3 comes in as a close 2nd.

YES!
Don't hate on me for EverQuest, it sucked me in for six months and was probably the best gaming of my life. Of course I had virtually no social life during the period and stayed up 'til the wee hours of the morning level-grinding, but damn was it fun.
Super Metroid, well, if you haven't played it, you're missing out. Big time.
Deus Ex
GTA3
Maybe Fallout 2
Fallout (2)
Gunstar Heroes
Secret of Mana
Phantasy Star Online (almost made me fail university ^^; )
Super Metroid
System Shock II
Deus Ex
Zelda: Link to the Past
Bubble Bobble Series (bubble bobble, rainbow islands and parasol stars though you can shove in puzzle bobble/Bust-a-Move as well =3 )
Can't really choose between them and I'm sure there's ones I missed =P
Call Of Duty (though its short, the game was freaking amazing)
Half-Life
Unreal 2 (it used to suck, but now it has amazingly fun multiplayer)
It never gets boring, the graphics are adequate enough and the gameplay stands firm as a rock.
If <i>Elite</i> and <i>Frontier</i> didn't exist, I'd no doubt choose one of Legionnaired's.
Edit: <i>Revs</i> should probably be up there too.
<3 David Braben and <3 Geoff Crammond

I've been playing that recently, and while the combat system is simple, it is really effective.
But my top games of all time are Project Zero (Fatal Frame in the US), Super Probotector (Contra 3 in the US), Duck Hunt, System Shock 2, Final Fantasy VII and last, but not least, Morrowind.
*EDIT: Eep, i missed out one of the classics, Zelda 3: A Link To The Past, the best Zelda game, imho.
Fallout
Half Life
Deus Ex
Dungeon Keeper
I haven't played that game in so long, it was definately a good game. SNES right? Maybe I can find a rom or something.

^^
If you aint any money, its D.R.O.D.
Original C&C was soo much better, if you just moved some of the features over it would be an increadable game.
