I played the C&C Demo first and then found out Red Alert was coming out so I thought great I'll get it.

I prefered the whole alternate world war idea.

Only because of Kane but technically thats an infinite loop, Planet C&C has essays on the timeline and how it makes a creepy kind of sense.

I can't agree. I prefer a fair system that actually gives you a chance to avoid attacks (whether through real-time dodging or Final Fantasy style interception) instead of the SOM system where bosses can rape you with potent, unforgiving spells of which there is no escape.

The accolade of "Best Game Ever" is something impossible to answer definitely; it's based purely on opinion, so that's what you're going to get: my opinion
I believe that there is no best game, however there are many impossibly excellent games; the peak of their respective genre.
Half-Life dominates the FPS market for its sheer purity, golden classics such as Super Mario World sit high upon their platforming throne, Deus Ex and FF7 fight for the right to be my favourite RPG and Resident Evil has stolen my heart with its niche 'Survival Horror' genre.

Armoured Core was superb. I only ever played the demo but it was my fav game for the PS1. For immersion I'd say Call Of Duty. I just got onto the Russian missions and I straight away thought "Enemy At The Gates". For graphics I'd say Unreal 2. Value for money it would definately be Half Life.

it does, theres a fix available, but im not sure if i'm allowed to link to the page which has it - since it hosted the game itself some time ago, and then when it seemingly took it down. i tried to repost it, but an admin still nuked the link since it apparently still was there somewhere o_O

EDTI: i think Master of Magic is one of the best games made - and Moonstone as well

Pm me the link, I won't dload the game itself because i've already got it.

And besides that it costs £2.99 to buy at GAME (yes, they still have it as well as the original warcraft) so it's not a major hit on your wallet to just go and BUY it.

What? The longer and more boring version of the original X-Com, better? How?

For me, UFO:Enemy Unknown (aka X-Com) takes the cake. Betrayal at Krondor is a close second.

I gotta put my vote in for:

The original Civilization.

I mean come on, this game sucked away my entire summer, even without the manual! It took me forever just how to learn how to play, but I immediately realized, w00! Theres nothing like crushing all of asia as the Mongol Hordes, or nuking Paris to a radioactive glass, you could do whatever the fruit you wanted... Awesome.

That is the secret to playing this game.

Constantly casting spells 1 after the other so the boss is stuck in an infinite 'pain' loop.

I've been playing that recently, and while the combat system is simple, it is really effective.

But my top games of all time are Project Zero (Fatal Frame in the US), Super Probotector (Contra 3 in the US), Duck Hunt, System Shock 2, Final Fantasy VII and last, but not least, Morrowind.
