Ooh I like games!!!!
Ok, there was somthing similar to this in the Artwork forum a while ago, but I thought it would be fun to do for mapping as well.
Here are the rules. I will give 5 days notice starting now and ending at 12:00 midnight (EST) on Friday for signups. I will then edit this post with the names of the participants.
I will then post a .map file consisting of one room and a .rad file that can only be modified to add new textures, you can not change values of the rad file that a previous compeditor added in. The map and rad files will be in a password protected zip on a password protected server so that only compeditors will have access to the file.
Then each compeditor will be given a period of *edit* 48 hours to add 1, and only 1 room or intricate hallway to the existing map and make any small changes to the existing map (Ex: no re texturing the entire map, the goal is to add on to and continue the theme of the map, not change it.) You have to make the connections from a previous room to your room (AKA hallways) but may not make hallways extruding from your room. You should leave a square opening 256x256 or 128x128 units where you want the next connection to be. When finished email me at fluffybunny@clan-dg.net with the .map and if Hammer is used the .rmf (but please include the .map , some people use quark and/or radient to edit maps and those editors have no rmf suport) then I will put it back up on my server and PM the password to the next compeditor.
There should be at least 10 people to sign up and if not, I may extend the deadline. -There is over 10, but you can still sign up untell I feel there is way too many.
Sign up posts should include how long you've been mapping [b][and links (do not post images)[b] to screenshots of mapping work you have done previously (no, that dosn't mean you have to have a finished map, just to proove that you can map)
I'll start so you don't get too woried that you will be working off of crap

And I worked on remaking Ns_Nancy.
:edit: n/m it was one of you nancy folk that uses radient, I thought it was you.
i have nothing better to do. so im in.
also can i use my own textures or am i limited to certain wads?
casue some moonintes are clearl in order and im working on an animated texture for my new co map
Sidenote, you don't have to use the exact same textures I use, as long as they fit the general theme of the map, and the theme of your room.
Argh.

Its been more or less 4 years that i map (and still nothiing released )
Ive got an old screenshot of one of my old projects In the post your screenshot thread, 1rst page link
It is supposed to be good, so don't just connect rooms, think about where you leave a place for a doorway, think about where you place your addon room when you make it.
If you all do that, this might be a decent map.

bwar. i win. haha.. ugh. someone slap me.
And FYI, the readyroom does not count as one of the rooms. I have somthing special planed for the RR that I will release on Friday.
(I'm making the MS)
I've been mapping for about six months now, the last screenshot thread of my work can be viewed here

With people like Reese and Zazi mapping, it kind of makes me feel out of place (the fact they're better than me). Hopefully this will help me improve my general mapping skills aswell as a bit of fun
But my work IS crap! Eeesh!

Well if we have a marine start with two or more exits (giving the next person a choice on where he wants to work) and if we do the same on the rooms (more than one connection), we could work our way up to a hive and make a good co_map ( a real ns_ map needs to much work on layout). But a co_ map could be done...
last straw zazi. sock in the face when i see you.
Aww, look, I caught you in half a lie. I mean, seriously, someone could probably write a program that can map better than me.... in BASIC.... that runs on a 386....... and only takes fifteen seconds to finish.
That may be a bit of an exhaggeration
I'm mapping abou 5 months. I was forced abbandon my map (link in signature) because I reached the limit for "leaves" . I'm now working on smaller CO map.
Er and one question. What about R_speeds and texture 4MB limit ?

Thats a shot of one of my latest works. Err ignore that secret room crap, that was for my clan...
The only released pic of my work:

We worry about that after the map is built. I started on the MS and r_speeds max out at 300.
With 24 hours to make a room (asuming you have work/school and enjoy sleping) that shouldn't be enough time to get r_speeds too high.
