Hmm, well, they would get squished but the door would open again. However, since all who would be inside the vent would be killed, I suppose that doesn't matter much. And anyway, you'd have to block both doors if you want to be able to get in.

To me, it looks as if the spotlight on the res at atmos is WAY too bright, but maybe that's just afrom my gamma. Also, that walkway above the 2 res in atmos, is it supposed to be so red?
I'm sure this has been mentioned already but it occurs to me that once marines weld up the vent and aliens cant open it the only war into the MS is through a revolving door (one onos or 4 fades at a time) or up the lift. This could result in long drawn out games. It makes gorge heal and lerk umbra hard to use to end the game quickly and cleanly.
I know you suggested moving marine start but how about leaving it where it is but adding a fast entrance for the endgame? Perhaps dropping the floor to make it higher ceilinged and closer to the atmospheric entrance??

Yeah, eaglec is right. Once you weld the vent, aliens are screwed. Marines can just play target practice down the elevator shaft(or they can just grenadespam). The airlock entrance is almost as bad, since it is barely wide enough for one onos. Once you have an onos on the MS side of the lock, all other aliens are blocked. The only solution i can think of is really speeding up the elevator so that it is real fast, like a 1 second or less ride to the top. Also, make the path out of the airlock as wide as possible, to give passing room for aliens going in and out.
eaglec has a point, but from the previous games on bast that Ive played, I remember that neither the vent nor the revolving door is really used to assault the marine base. By the end of the game, the vent is usually closed, and the revolving door usually only serves to let reinforcements in...after the fight has been mostly over. I dont think you need to worry about it until you have some playtests of it after you are done.
I actually want to add a normal entrance (maybe that you have to weld it open) that leads to the engine vents..., and if it's not weldable, to main aft.
