- an onos regenerates about 90hp per tick

onos will win cause the la will never be able to empty his clip before he is dead.

umbra triples the hitpoints resulting in 5100hp. each regen tick heals now 270hp per tick.

this way 2 heavy armors or light armor marines will never be able to kill an umbraed onos. even if they both unload thei full hmg and pistol clip. its just regenerates too much. the onos just has to kill both before they finished reloading their hmgs.

    Only lv. 1 weapons?

Realisitcally, they will have at least lv. 2, if not lv. 3 by the time HMG's pop out and onos's are romping around. At lv. 2 that is 2750.

Also, the onos has 700 and 500, no? Also, it only regens somewhere around 50-60 a tick. It only regens 9% per 2 seconds.

And umbra is cool and all, but a GL or marine who kills the lerk will make the onos very vunerable again. 3 HMG's will kill the onos just as fast as one HMG.

And losing an HMG marine (which can just be picked up again) is no where near as devestating as losing a 75 res creature.

Furthermore, JP's actually can counter onos, as onos can't reach 100 feet into the sky and kill them.

As I already said, this is not the time, nor the place for long feature discussions. Save your essays for the Public Beta Forum.

In consequence, I deleted a few posts. As I said, not the time, nor the place.

    let me add one thing:
you want to see things that way... i let you see things that way. 3 hmgs killed a single onos since the game was only a thought in flayras head. i won't write until my finger hurt just to realise that you don't want to be convinced.

the changes are great and 3.0 will be fun to play... even if it is a little bit unbalanced

I feel stupid now. I was reading frantically through everything on the front page until I realized that I needed to refresh it.

Now, (sorry if this has already been discussed, I didn't feel up to reading 8 pages of stuff) here is where Steam comes in.

With the new blood playtesting 3.0, I suspect that the aliens will control most games until the commanders get up to snuff with new tactics, just like 2.0 (to a lesser degree, however, since 2.0 really revamped things). We're going to have to wait a week or two into testing before we can really start making balance changes. Once tactics fall into line, the new balance builds can come rolling in, but until then, only bug fixes (maybe some blaring balance problems, but the consties and vets should have found those) will come though.

Steam is about to roll into a massive, full-blown demonstration to you guys of its power. Once you get it working, play on, and I urge you to try stupid things. I'm not kidding. Only rambos, exploiters, and lamers will be able to uncover bugs and exploits that nobody else could find, which is one of the beauties of public betas. With steam, bugs can be found, re-created, and isolated, and then an update can be released in a blindingly short amount of time.

This public beta is going to be the dev team's turn to play with Steam.

Here's a toast to Flayra and the devs!

You are angry because I disproved your math?

And you resort to, "It's GONNA BE COOL AND FUN DUDE SUYF"

The onos (and esp. fade) are weak. Understand it and get over it. There is nothing to justify.

    So what if you know?

The thousands of nsplayers who play the game will in all probability, WILL NOT KNOW, which goes directly back to my point of why I disagree with this beta going public.

NGE - good, this makes the game more exciting, if you remember 1.0 the game was over by the time aliens got fades. Now we are able to have fun with all aspects of the game even if it isnt balanced.

-and your arguement is horrible - you want to balance it but you dont want to release it to the public? sorry but those two dont go together unless you want to travel slower than a snail

There are 100 reasons a public beta is a good thing to do at this moment, and .5 reasons its a bad thing at this moment.

and how could you dare compare NS to hostile intent? seriously that is just wrong
  • TwoheadedchickenTwoheadedchicken Join Date: 2003-01-05 Member: 11866Members, Constellation
and you know why 2.0 hurt? Not because of the whining and the imbalance that it brought, but because of HOW LONG it took to release it

The title of this tread is wrong!

It should read "Front Page Of natural-selection.org", not N-s.org. N-s.org is an actually website and I went there to learn that Flayra has decided to go into domain hosting. Excellent work!

Forget N.S 3.0, Domain Hosting forever!
