Guys, you should first detail texture all the maps, put it in one .zip and than give it. Make it a huge project. It'll be rather annoying if you have to DL several .zips all the time.
Added origin, veil, caged, lost and nancy. There are a few problems that I can't sort out right now because steam has been giving me "game currently not available" errors for ~ half an hour(unable to contact auth. server?).
edit: steampowered.com appears to have run out of steam as well.

Gotta love steam(NOT!), had the same problem Soylent green: The link/file in your sig is updated? so we just have to leech that one again to update the other maps as well, or are you going to realease a full detail textures pack?
btw keep it up man, great work. The hl engine still pack a great graphical punch. it just refuses to die.Whats next bumpmapping and reflextions ?
For now if you're going to just test what textures look like, quit steam entirally (using exit and not 'exit and logout') and then reload it. It will try to connect and fail and ask you if you want to use 'offline mode'.
Now, the funny part is that in offline mode you *still* can connect and play on servers that are in your favorites list. You just can't use the main server browser.
noo cutedge maybe the first was a little too prominent but the second is hardly visible... getting something half way between that would be a lot better.
[infact] i think the original is nearly perfect 0_o
I loaded all the texture WADs from the nsp directory into Valve's Hammer Editor, so all I can think is that they're in half-life's GCF files (?). I dunno.

The first shot looks like it's teckwall01-big. The second shot is beigepanel-t and nos_grooved. They're all from ns.wad if you want to check for yourself.
sizer detail textures are inofficial and probably made for counter-strike CZ. I would expect VALVe to support detail textures for all/more cards around the time that CZ is released.

Tried that, no dice.

Yepp, that's what I'm doing. And it's alot quicker than decompiling a map to get at the names of the textures that are not standard NS or renamed and -wadincluded or such.
This is what i'm using on the 'nos_grooved', and I still think you should put the same texture on the 'floor_lab1b', because those detail textures on the floor look kewl.
You can't get it to do offline mode? Huh. Does it give you the option for it at all when it can't log in?
Nice! This would be a great improvement to NS if properly implemented, i am all for it.
Even if, unfortunately, this doesnt work with my system (yet?)

Gah, hope they will add support for older GPU's (unlikely...) or i'll finaly have to buy a new video card

I'm still gonna say the same thing about some detail textures that should be added/changed though:
in general all wall lab textures to something other than bumpy5, other than the infested ones for which bumpy5 works fine
ns_nancy since you have 6 textures left, i think you should put in some textures to fix up the readyroom and the flooring floor_lab1b detail/deipnophobia/HStripesBigSoft 10 10 beigepanel-t detail/deipnophobia/Crosshatch 10 10 nos_grooved detail/deipnophobia/HStripesBigSoft 10 10
ns_hera i still think you should add in the stripes to the floor. i made that expanded version of the stripes so it doesnt look like it's too much detail for the grating anymore. floor_lab1b detail/deipnophobia/HStripesBigSoft 10 10
But anyway, don't let my constant commenting let you think that you're not doing good work. Again, you're doing an awesome job.
It looks great - on the screenshots. It doesn't work on my GeForce2. :-/
I really like this one: http://www.llamalicious.com/images/mineshaft_detail.jpg
I go look at mineshaft_detail.jpg now. For a while.
Yeah, unforunately this doesn't seem to work with the MX line, either Gf2 or gf4mx. I think Valve is probably in for a bit of a shock on how many people are running older video cards, as evidenced by their survey on hardware. While most users are between 1.5g and 2.3 gig (which on an AMD is a high end chip), about 25% of users are running either a GF4MX or a Geforce 2.
The only problem is that it won't tesselate, and the detail has to be a little more profound in order for it to really show up. That's what i found out when i was trying to come up with a different texture for the n6_rust. I think if you fixed it to tesselate and cranked the contrast up then it'd work.
This is what the textured metal looks like as a raw image (since TGA files aren't shown on the forum)

addition and the famous typos...

Soylent: Why'd you remove the detail texture for "floor_lab1b"?
Next question: Does anyone know what these three textures are? I'm using hammer to look for textures and I can't seem to find them...

tecwall112-big
or
tecwall1102
or
tecwall1101 which even has that caution trim
nos_grooved
armoryfloor
Teckwall01-big is already in Soylent's file, so it's probably one of the ones Shen listed. I'll check later but i gotta go to class.
Anyway, you think the floor is better with the stripes or no?

Isn't working with my GeForce 4 MX t.t
Funny that Valve can't get detail textures to work for a card like mine, when they work in every other game that has them.

it's just an expanded version of the stripes, with a few soften filters run on it so it stands out a little less.

Support for all maps(edit: all ns_ prefixed), added a few more detail textures.
I have done very little testing, so expect some uglies on some maps and some surfaces where detail textures have not yet been added.
Tired now and I'll have some time to work more on it in the morning. The link in my sig is still the old one.

Here's the TGA for it, in ZIPped format because it's too big. That grated texture I'm detailing is "floor_diamond".
Edit: Turned out a bit brighter than I would have liked.
