I think some sort of arbitrary rule like 'players should be able to reach a join team portal from any info_player_start point in like 10 seconds max'. That would avoid someone simply taking their rmf for ns_siege3423409 and turning it into a readyroom. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well, seeing that the deadline for *judge applications* is the end of next weekend (probably around the 18th), the map deadline won't be for a while. End of April, perhaps.
OK, you'll see some screens later this day (got to go to school now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ).
As the or 1 of the prizes, I can offer to run the winners "map of their choice" in our server rotation for a weekend. Good way to get your custom map played. Servers always full and we use sv_downloadurl so even big maps load in minutes.
Its official. The Map Game, Pass it on 2 has posted several that say they would welcome the RR we create to be their RR for the final map.
Even Caboose said hes up for it. So winner will have to cough up the RMF/MAP when they win.
On another note, i'd say Judges will need a full BSP rendered copy of the submission, and post their results of their judgement.
I want to say I'd offer a Constie account to the winner if they dont already have it... but i have to see what my money is like, so dont quote me on that.
Just to let you know, I'm still here <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and waiting for screenies!
<b>ShenTraX:</b> GJ on getting us the RR slot for the mapping game. Constie offer is a bit more than I expected <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> but if you want to do it, go ahead.
As I was reading through the Nightwatch forums, an idea came to me: how about an NS <b>boxart</b> competition? Unfortunately, somebody else is gonna have to host it though, I'm doing my own project here on this thread <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> . But still, it wouldn't be a bad idea, probably even get some of the devs on it.
must....restrain....urge.....to.....commment.... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (well after all I *am* judging, and it would be unfair to give hints) I will say though, screenies look better IMHO if you correct gamma in-game.
Coming from the perspective of implementing this into the ns_ map game i'd say using your own wads is ok....with limits. Right now we're using ns.wad halflife.wad ns2.wad somecustomwadthatIcantrememberthenameof.wad
Which means you'd have four slots available to you. So I guess go for it. I'm not running things on that end though, so my comment may not be worth much.
i dont see why either of these, along with sprites, would be a problem. Since none of those really affect gameplay. Careful on the models though, as they can contribute to the wpoly as well as the epoly limits.
I'd also say contrain the WAD usage to the Ns, Ns2, and Halflife wads, and try to keep texture usage to a minimum. The map overall has an official useage max of 2 MB, and i have no idea what the Game thread is at in their WAD usage, if they are shooting for 'official' status (which would be a bonus for the copetition), or if they aren't (wich would give no limits). Eitehr way there is a plus or minus.

I will commit to Either of the following prizes for the winner:
A Constellation Account <b>OR</b> Your choice of <a href='http://www.cafeshops.com/thensstore/28655' target='_blank'>mousepads</a> (only 1) from the NS Store.
I know it aint much, but it's all i have to offer. If someone else wants to chip in, that would be wonderful.
If anyone wants to contribute to the prizes You can send via <a href='https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_transaction-run' target='_blank'>paypal</a> to (myhandle)@hotmail.com
If someone wants to add $5 we can boost the prize up to a t-shirt.
Gah, no, that defies the whole point of the competition, its all about the fancy bling bling. We'll get so much more variation if we allow the use of some custom textures. Since its gonna be in a map we can't go nuts but I would like to see the use of at least one custom wad allowed <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
[edit] looking pretty good Naige, although I think thiers some room here for fancy lighting and partical effect fancyness.

Comments
In other words: what is the max. size of the room?
We don't have a size or limit max, that what judges are for <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Whats the deadline?
Plus either way, seeing eachothers pwnages will get you guys working 3 times harder to win.
Just sit tight and hold on.

Custom sounds? Custom models?
