Yes Melons got a point there. The time limit is really anoying. I was playing a game also and there was 5 marines 3 skulks. We rushed did everything right but all they did was camp at there spawn and defend until we ran out of time. It really does suck!!!

PLease remember that the time limit can be set by the admin of the server, if you want 60 minute games, petition the admin.. That's why it was put in as a server setting so if you feel games aren't long enough they can be adjusted.
Oh yeah, what is stupid about NS, I think the big cheese in the sky is kinda goofy but other than that. I'm AOK..
My pet-peeve: How the skulks knock you back and/or to the right when you are bitten...it sucks as a skulk because the marines just jump back and kill you and it sucks when im a marine in a vent and it knocks me to the side so im not shooting AT the alien anymore.
Oh and on combat, it is extremely alien favored. we tried to do massive attack and it worked but one skulk kept getting past and hitting our chair, chair dead=alien win GG.
Erm, one sneaky player managing to outwit your entire team repeatedly doens't make the game alien-favored.Yes, the game is alien-favored right now, just not for that reason. . Gorge healing rate on the hive should be nerfed a little, as it's too easy to have 2 gorges heal the hive back to 100% in between rushes, even when it gets down to like 20%.
So for most stupid things in NS...gorges healing the hive quickly in Combat...and charge. The most advanced lifeform's most advanced attack is a speed boost? Who's bright idea was that?
Charge is worthless...imo you should be able to stand in the middle of 4 turrets within 5 ft of each one...start charge and they should be dead in less then 5 secs. shouldn't need to run into each of them or a marine. Complete waste of space for an ability.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Charge is about as worthless as say, blink, or leap. Or flapping.
Jesus you people are really really really uninformed even about the basics. Anything that speeds you up lets you hit and run, and you people are totally oblivious to the fact that every alien type except the gorge has some means of "speed up" move that does little to no damage at all, except for propelling the lifeform through the air. How often do I hear complaints about leap doing such pathetic damage that it's easier to parasite kill people? How often have I heard people suggest that blinking into marines should do damage? Are you people just not smart or something? The fact that charge does very little damage is completely irrelevent, because CHARGE IS NOT INTENDED TO KILL. You only use it when you need a super speed burst to run away after gobbling some heavy in the endgame. The other use it has is helping to speed up the killing of light armor marines, since a few "touches" from charge does enough damage to bring LAs down by an armor level or two while you charge-gore them. The fact that onos only get their speed-up move at three hives also doesn't matter because of all the speed up moves, the onos benefits the most from charge, making it logical that the onos only has fade-like powers of evasion if you have all three hives and are just waiting for the marines to lose. It also does the most damage of any speed-up type attack, so be thankful for the damage charge DOES do.
I really can't believe charge needs to be explained. It's the exact same as leap and blink, and people use those all the time. What is there to figure out? If you get three hives and you're an onos with adrenaline, the only thing that can kill you is being blocked in a hallway by some skulk in mid-charge out the marine base. You use charge paired with adren, regen, and SOF to see where the remaining heavy armors are, you zip in with charge when one of them is away from the crowd even just a little, drive-by devour, then turn around and charge out the exit, poop the HA out, and repeat until there are no HA because the commander can't afford them because you control the entire map. Charge makes you impossible to chase down if you have an open escape route and you don't have to crouch to get out. I'd rather have charge over stomp, myself.
The most stupid thing in ns is how people think skulks eat marine buildings and marines. Here's a quote from a real living skulk! (In guns4back2school forums "Ask a skulk" forum) Question asked to the skulk: What do aliens eat besides marines and marine buildings. Listen, I can only try to explain how I use a certain skill. If you haven't used charge enough to see its worth in the NS endgame, it's probably just because so few games end with the aliens getting that unnecesary third hive, and you just don't know. I get adren, I use charge, I run into base, devour on the first try, and run out of base with a Heavy inside, and even if they have mass HMGs, I still make it out and easily outrun the pursuit. If all they have is LA LMG, you use charge to strip off their armor levels and kill them in less than three gores. With adren, charge uses so little energy and you get it back so quickly, it's basically giving yourself a massive speed boost for fifteen or twenty seconds where you can get close, attack, and runaway without overextending yourself and getting killed.
I'm your buddy Nadagast. Didn't we used to play on the same server all the damn time in 1.04? You know me. I wouldn't lie to you here.
I find charge to be the onos' answer to blink and leap. I'm trying to tell you this so that you all don't think charge is just some useless toy, in the same way newbie players can't understand what blink or leap really does until they see someone use it the way it was intended. Celerity is a shoddy substitute for charge, at best, and leaves an onos dry of energy for stomp and gore. If you have three hives, you need to start experimenting with adren charge hit and runs against massively upgraded marines, because it's hilarious how good it works.
As for charge doing damage back in the 1.0's, that's because the damage was framerate based. Leap used to be able to do stupid-ridiculous damage based on your FPS, and jetpacks used to have near unlimited power, AGAIN due to FPS.
For me, the difference between a charge onos and a non-charge onos is the diff between a leap skulk and a non leap skulk. I'm not changing my mind, because I've played enough three hive endgames against hold-out marine teams to see that it's exactly like that. The fact that charge depletes the whole energy bar by the time it's done is just a drawback people need to get around. It's as easy as keeping an eye on your energy level and running around the corner when you're low to recharge. The fact that once you activate charge, it's on until it runs out, and you can resume using gore and devour at the same time as you're charging makes it better than leap or blink IMO. You have to quickswitch to attack to make leap and blink usable. Charge, at the expense of your energy bar, means that you can switch between gore and devour and attack your targets appropriately, all while moving at insane speeds.
If they wanted to switch stomp and charge and make charge a blink-like press-the-mouse-to-go-fast-while-charge-is-selected skill, it would get my vote.
Also, my posts aren't small, they are compact and information-dense. I shrink them because if I didn't, you would need to hit pagedown to read 90% of my posts. It's called efficiency of space. Again, I end up explaining everything here.

Charge takes too much adrenaline to be useful for movement
I don't use emoticons much, but yeah
Charge + adren makes it last a while, and you recharge a bunch faster. Yes, using charge without adren means it won't last long enough to do anything with it. It will drain the bar fast, and recharge very slowly. With adren though, charge gets boosted in effectiveness by about 200%. It lasts twice as long, and recharges in half the time. The selling point for me is being able to disengage at any time from a conflict. Even long hallways don't scare me when I have charge. I've tried celerity onos, but when you get charge, you don't need celerity to get places fast, and adren boosts the combat effectiveness of your other attacks too.
If only they hadn't made that godawful stupid change to CO where hive3 abilities cost 2 points now, you could test a regen-adren charge onos all day and practice doing it. I've done what I'm talking about in NS mode too. I was doing it yesterday on R5. Everyone else is dying like flies to hyper-upgraded rines, and I'm practically standing outside marine start using charge and SOF to run in and eat heavys before retreating with a mere half-loss of my armor, and I just keep doing it until my KTD ratio looks like I've been playing fade for the past hour. Charge vastly increases my life expectancy, and when I use it, I don't find the adrenaline drain to be considerable at all.
Maybe I'm better able to keep an eye on my energy at the same time as my health, or maybe I'm efficient at attacking and don't miss a lot so my bar stays up longer. You know I don't want to make any stupid claims about being better than anybody at 3-hive onosing, but I swear, I've made charge work wonders. If you use adren-charge as part of your base assault endgame strat, it reduces the risk of dying while allowing you to pick off walking-resource-christmastrees like HA all by yourself, without using stomp to stun them for your teammates, without needing umbra to survive because you're so damn slow even with cele.
Y_Y why wont u beleev meeee!? cry cry.
Another point about using charge. Everyone whines to no end that charge is the only movement skill that only stops once you're out of energy. The way you use it, then, is by being aware of your situation. If you're using charge to hit and run the last desperate heavy train, or break the marine last-stand, what you do is charge in, devour your target with the first shot (PRACTICE TILL THIS IS SECOND NATURE), and charge back near cover. Depending on how much health you have, you either loiter in the area and wait for your stomach to empty out with regen, or if you're hurting, run further away to heal. On the other hand, if you've just charge-gore killed about every light armor in base, you can let your energy bar drain to zero inside the marine base because nobody is really shooting at you with enough damage to hurt you. At that point, you start killing marine structures. Your energy bar shoots up with adren, so in very little time, you have enough energy to leave base in a hurry if the commander does something like beacon.
That's how I use it anyway. The part where charge drains you to zero means nothing if you plan your attack with that drawback in mind. Always know your abilities and your limits. I swear this works if you're a bigtime onos player, since it compliments gore and devour perfectly. Gore is your standard attack, devour is your instagib, stomp is your support ability, charge is your movement ability.
None of this matters because how often do you see charge onos anyway. But I still stand by what I say. It's cool if we agree to disagree, I just want to make sure you know my reasoning, so you don't think I'm just acting arbitrary or because I'm an **** or something. If they ever swap the places of charge and stomp, we might have more to talk about.
charge is pretty cheesy, personally i use onos with Celerity, Focus, and Regeneration. I admit, i use charge to get away from sticky situations (5 jp/hmg come in, you better run or there is going to be ono hotdogs at the marine victory BBQ) other than that, charge isnt really anything else but that-a speed boost.
anyway going back to the TOPIC of this thread (like the rest of you should) i think that the fact that a pistol does more damage in one shot than a heavymachine gun or any machine gun for that matter (in one bullet) is quite stupid in itself.
Also stupid how the TSA cant send hordes and hordes of marines already equiped with HMG, HEAVY-JP combo armour with 1000 points and spawn marines every split second. i mean if the TSA really wants to ensure a successful mission...

If they ever swap the places of charge and stomp, we might have more to talk about.
personally i use onos with Celerity, Focus, and Regeneration.
I admit, i use charge to get away from sticky situations (5 jp/hmg come in, you better run or there is going to be ono hotdogs at the marine victory BBQ) other than that, charge isnt really anything else but that-a speed boost.
anyway going back to the TOPIC of this thread (like the rest of you should)
i think that the fact that a pistol does more damage in one shot than a heavymachine gun or any machine gun for that matter (in one bullet) is quite stupid in itself.
Also stupid how the TSA cant send hordes and hordes of marines already equiped with HMG, HEAVY-JP combo armour with 1000 points and spawn marines every split second. i mean if the TSA really wants to ensure a successful mission...

Being spawnkilled in co_
The lack of a training level where ns is explained.
The fact that players have an advantage by exploiting known bugs of the halflife engine like wallstrafing and bunnyhopping
The fact that scripting does a lot for ppl that use it and that ppl without don't have that.
The fact that they had to make Combat (Go play cs or quake or ut) before they even perfected/debugged/balanced NS:Classic
The fact that they try too balance ns and co as a whole.
The fact that ns_ servers are hardly populated and co server are
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do love ns, and why?
Because once in a week/month have a game with:
-Equal teams (equally skilled)
-That your teammates use voicecom in your language
-That there is near perfect teamwork
-That the pressure is kept on
-That everyone is serious and not screw up the game by spamming buildings wasting the res, ejects the com that was doing a good job
And:
-That I could/can download this mod for NOTHING.
-That I can download and use good custom models.
Suggestions:
-Fix/balance ns_ to the max
(remove bhop/scripts and auto-aim) if possible, and make the game fair for EVERYONE)
-Remove Combat and make a decent training level, since co doesnt explain that much about ns
<3 you guys, im going to play some more ns_ (screw co_)

So you'd agree with enabling auto-aim right

No, I think Valve threw that in because ppl would get tired of aiming versus AI controlled opponents.
I do not encourage hacks/cheats in any way, thats why we have Motion Tracking/Scent of Fear, and our dear comrades in game that communicate huh.
(sometimes I have to add)
