What's the point in working for deadlines when the "leader" of this contest has already proven to be biased (rooting for leren) and has decided to change the rules as he sees fit? Are you really that desperate for $20 or "merchandise" from BlackPlagiarist?

1. The maps can be ported to the HL2 engine only having to change textures, entities, and a few other things (+make them super cool for ragdoll effect scenery). {Do you really think that de_dust was completely remade for cs:source?}
2. I'm sure the most successful HL2 mods will be ported in no time as they are so popular. As I am writing this taking a quick gander at what players are playing on steam I notice that NS is the 3rd most popular (if you group all cs versions as one). I have no doubt that the NS team are eagerly awaiting HL2 or even already have the leaked source code to play with (maybe) and will have a new and astoundingly brilliant NS out before we can blink. NS will never fade away, as long as it puts the onos on entertainment and innovation. I mean for Ominous Kismet's sake!
3. It is for this reason that I am going to continue with my current map ns_tbc (tbc = to be confirmed ) hoping that it'll fit right in with the next NS, which I am salivating for like a bingo-winged flabby-flabb-flabb gorgey-gorge phattman-phattey!

It's not gonna stop me making my map as whatever the engine it's still something to have on your CV. In addition it gives you more experience as a mapper. I've also had a bad track record in finishing maps so whether anyone plays it or not I'm making this baby!

Oh this contest could get worse. He could charge an entry fee for the privilege of making a map for example. I think thats pretty much the only thing that could make this any more of a joke. Aside from involving goatse somehow... as a prize perhaps?
There's a contest here? Could have fooled me.
If you don't need formal qualifications, and the judging will take place before the 14th of September (as I'll be going on my year abroad on that date), I'll be happy to take part as a Judge.
I'd also be happy to beta test any of the projects. Although I'm not sure whether I could be seen as being fair to do both of those things together.
