I'm a Terrorist in (I think) de_office, just planted the bomb, and have one teammate with me. I look down a corridor and see a shielder. He sees me, and hides behind a box (WTH?) while I hide to the right of the corridor. My buddy comes in from the left, and the shielder, probably thinking it was me, slowly moves down the corridor towards my buddy, and then finally charges him when he gets to the room we were defending, only to get a back full of machinegun. And people say there's no teamwork in CS... PAH!
I'm at a DOD LAN, the map is Kalt, and while everone else is still connecting/installing/whatever it's just me vs 10+ allies. I run up to their spawn, and proceed to kill every single one of them with one clip of my STG44 and cap their flag, winning the round.
That NS 1.04 game, you know that game, the one in which a seemingly endless supply of heavies and jetpackers face off with hive 2 aliens for hours upon hours of stalemate goodness? Everyone's had one, and they were freaking awesome.
Killing 5+ heavies and the standard marines that came out of the PG they build, then the base they made alone as a lerk in Refinery hive in Bast on October 31st 2002.
When I saw the title of this thread I thought of cool things that the actual games do, not cool things that we do in the games. Should we create a new thread for those, or just post them here?
Planetside, during beta. Me and my team were moving through a pacified but still severly hostile enemy base towards the capping room. My team is running light, carring mostly anti-infantry gear, no maxes. I'm the only one with anything heavy - namly my trusty rocklet rifle. As we enter the stairwell to proceed into the basement and possibly a good bit of shooting stuff, the guy in front me me starts getting hit. He manages to throw himself around a corner while I whip around after just passing through the door and see... a MAX. staring straight at about six infantry on top of the arch. The rest of my team is attempting to fire back, and isn't having much luck. He fires down at us, I take a bit and lose a large portion of my armour. By this time, however, I had my rocklet rifle out and had switched it to "empty clip" mode, which fires all the rocklets in the clip in very quick sucession. Since the MAX was very close, and I was facing right at him, I couldn't miss. There was a massive stunning series of explosions as my rocklet rifle went off in his face, followed by smoke and a rather disoriented silence. Through the massive cloud of smoke on the wall and the large black smear, I see the form of his broken armor.

Oh yeah, I have one for UT as well. I was playing the singeplayer, and the difficulty was "I can't remember". I was on the last CTF map, which was August or October or whatever (the one with the submarine). I started that map in the morning, and finished it after the sun had gone down. It was the biggest stalemate in the history of gaming, and my god was it awesome. When I finally got the last flag, I literally collapsed in my chair, missing half of the trophy sequence in the process.
I had just launched in a Y-Wing after being shot down in an A-Wing. I race...well wallowed to catch up with the other 12 or so people on my team who were already engaged against a Carrack Cruiser and about 10 Ties/TIE interceptors (Eyeballs and Squints respectivly). I asked for help over the teamspeak server and two X-Wings formed up perfectly on my wing (that's almost impossible in BF1942) I launch 8 proton torpedos before having to break my lock onthe carrack, but I had drained it of enough health.
The X-wings broke off and I sped in from below at the carrack, I rolled up and over the top so my cokpit (sensors the otherword) was just BARELY above the top of the ship. I fired about 4 shots and took out a Squint which careened into a TIE fighter. Right after I cleared the carrack and had about half armor from the turbo lasers, an X-Wing, who was being chased by a Squint, was trying to pull up out of a climb but didn't make it. He slams into the front of the Carrack Cruiser and kills it.
Serious Sam, when: You get the minigun, and the ground starts to shake... and around the bend of the aqueduct, you see a wave of black rushing towards you... OMG
also, when the end boss shows up behind you, you spin around, and you see its toe... you then realize that you have to look all the way up to see him.... holy crap he is big.

My first Kael Drakkel raid in EQ. I was main-slowing for the whole raid, and it was my first time doing that, too. I'll never forget seeing "You will not evade me, Wandaorf!" roll across the screen 3 times as I warp towards a group of three Kromzek giants and I get pounded on.
Then, just as I'm about to die, three Complete Heals hit me and aggro goes back to the MT. I never got any armor pieces to drop for me throughout the whole 6 hour deal, but damn was it still a lot of fun. Ahh, I almost wish EQ was fun again so I could stand playing it, but alas.

Then there's all the epic NS games... like once, on ns_nothing. We were marines and the aliens had three hives. We were locked up in our base (we had relocated to foreboding antechamber) with several onii and lerks and fades etc attacking all the time. We finally got HAs and some heavy weapons and managed to fight off the aliens for a while. We got to the corridor just next to Powersilo and we managed to put up a siege base. After losing it twice, one hell of a struggle, we managed to retake it after 10 minutes of fending the aliens off and rebuilding. So now we pinged Powersilo for a while, until the comm told us he was out of energy. The aliens were agressive like hell, trying to defend their hive. I decided to rush. I got past the aliens who were shot down by my teammates with HMGs in the other end of the corridor. I rushed into the hive, emptied my LMG clip while the sieges went off. The hive finally died. We then went on to kill Viaduct and Cargo, and then we won.

He never suspected a thing. For the next year we would sit inside the ict lab saying we were doin homework, when he left his office , we would call our friends and play from 3ish to around 7ish every night a 20 man lan.We played CS, HL DM + TFC every night, that was a really fun year....
For all i know its still installed on the computers, and HL will be passed down from generation to generation.... lol

halo legendary campaign. you really get that tactical feel when you're taking the entrance to the cartographer complex, and you station your warthox w/side gunner and machinegunner at one end, and set up a crossfire from the other end, and end up with no damage to you or your squadmates.

Planetside in the beta, seeing the first major assault. It was great because i was running up a hill and as i could just see over the top, i saw this HUGE battle (must have been at least 500 people down there) in a base. It was just like a movie, the way it unfolded in front of me.
Planetside again, but not the beta. I was flying cover as my squad was helping take a base ( i was in a reaver) when 4 enemy reavers and 2 mossies show up. I manage to take two out (i hid behind a hill and pulled out behind them), but then i ended up on the run from the 4 remaining ships. I pulled them away from the ground assault and did my best to shake them, and actually got two of them to slam into a cliff (with me screaming WOO HOO!), and then a guy called Morph0 came and took the other two out (Morph0 has got to be the best mossie pilot i've ever seen). The cheering over the voice comm was awesome
BF1942: I was an axis and i took a plane over to an airbase in the top corner of the map to pick up the bomber (i don't know the name of the map) and nicked it. Then i went and bombed their front lines (i suck with planes really so i didn't do much damage), and i picked up a spitfire on my tail. I was bored with flying around so i tried to have a little fun by trying to fly the bomber like a fighter. I took it into a canyon and actually out-performed the fighter, causing him to smash into the wall while i pulled up and out. That one also caused much laughter from me.
In 1.03 ns_nancy, we were taking a pounding from the aliens and i said to the comm "Give me a shotgun, we're losing anyway" so he dropped one. I ran down to that res node just at the bottom of marine start, and killed 2 skulks who were chomping that. Then 5 skulks ran round the corner and i took them all out. That was amazing. Pure luck, but still really fun

marines were getting raped. 7 players on aliens. all onos i was the only one left (we had relocated to rt platform) i JPed over to the glass walkway, and was taunting the aliens until i noticed something. all of the onii (except one)had lagged out! (they were still there, just doing the weird lagg things) i got a pistol and a knife kill before they physically left the server hopped into CC, dropped the essentials, and proceded to start rebuilding base that last onii was a pain, until we killed it then he evolved fade at that point, we had lost so i sneak out of base so we can relocate again and again we got a hive during one relocation it got to the point where i was admin_slayed me to make the game end (but the game still went on) i think we did 4 relocations that game (other than the one to rt platform) 100 minute game i loved it
Very long read, sorry, hopefully you'll find it enjoyable:
BF: 1942 on Invasion of the Philippines. (best BF: 1942 map ever) It was one of those massive games, 64 players on a nice, fast server filled with vets and team players. I joined while we (the Japs) were getting destroyed, but I noticed something, almost all of my team had 3rd party mic support. (I forgot what it was, I'm thinking Roger Wilco) We were getting flamed like crazy by the allies, and we weren't too pleased about it.
So, while the game is ending and we tried to hold onto the island (you know, the one the Japs always take first) we starting planning and setting up squads. Eventually we got it set up, 3 squads with a 4th, "special forces" squad standing by on the Destroyer if we ever needed to sneak in somewhere. Here's how the squads broke down:
Squad 1: This squad contained the Destroyer and the best heavy ship gunner I've ever seen. He could take down an aircraft from crazy distances. The main job of this squad was to be a distraction, to keep the aircraft focused on it and to head towards the airbase and the small island near it. This squad contained the best of the best on our team.
Squad 2: This was my squad, our job was to hop onto a landing ship and get as far south as possible, then move towards the large island at the west of the map. We would then move north and land at the US Marine Base, take it, get the tank/transport, and move down to the main landing beach ASAP.
Squad 3: This was kind of the newbie squad, they're job was to take the normal objective, the closest island to the destroyer. Not much more to say about this squad.
Special Forces: Explained this one earlier, their job was to take back any bases taken by the allies.
So as the new round started, everything went pretty smoothly. The right people got on the right boats, and the machine gunners were all set up. On my landing boat, I was the driver, pretty much everybody were the assault class, though we had 1 anti-tank, 1 neer, and 1 medic.
As we set off, the planes came in as usual. They weren't very careful though, and they were soon torn to pieces by our machine gunners and heavy ship gun. Everything was going well for Squad 2, we reached the southern edge of the map and were heading west. Then, the voice chatter picked up. Squad 3 had landed and Squad 1 was taking heavy losses from a skilled Corsiar pilot and def gunner.
Then, as my squad neared the landing beach near the marine base, we heard some cheers on the voice comm, we had taken the first island with only minor losses! Just a small thing in a normal game, but against a group of skilled allies on one of the most biased maps, it was awesome.
Our craft landed and I dropped the door. We all grouped up on the beach and sent a scout out ahead to check things out. He reported back, telling us that there was a tank and a couple infantry men guarding the base. So, we all got set up hiding in bushes and behind anything we could find, our neer planted some mines and our anti-tank took up a position closest to the base. Our scout drew the tank out of hiding and led him straight into our trap. BOOM! One rocket right into the sweet spot and the thank was burning. BOOM! There goes the tank. We then swept in, cleaned the place out, and waited for our capture. Once that happened, our most skilled tank driver took the job and I hopped into the machine gunners seat.
Along with a transport, we head south, took the landing beach, and assisted squad 1 with taking the airfield. When that was done, we had control of the game. We had the airfield, (and both aircraft) the top 2/3 of the big island, and the east of the map all under our control. The small Point Boyington soon fell under a MASSIVE shelling. (all the def guns we could get, our destroyer, and both of our planes) and we moved in and took the southern 1/3 of the big island. The allies did manage to sneak back towards the eastern island on a PT boat, but out plane spotted them and our "special forces" were waiting for them. After that, the game ended quickly, I wish someone could've taken a video of it. Truly the best game of BF: 1942 I've ever played, and it might be one of the best ever, too bad things aren't the same today.
Star Wars: Galaxies: I'll never forget the time when a group of Rebels raided a player run Imperial city on Naboo. I was running around trying to help, but mostly I just provided play by play for my guildmates who weren't there yet. The stormtroopers, Imperial players, and Rebel players were firing so many blaster shots everywhere, it looked exactly like one of the huge firefights from the movies. Great Star Wars moment right there.
Rainbow 6: Rogue Spear demo: Anyone remember this? You got to play that one museum map. In one of the large rooms, there was this exhibit thing that was open in the middle that you could walk through, and it provided a bit of cover. Me and 3 of my teammates managed to get ourselves boxed it, and it was the craziest firefight you had ever seen. Both sides were firing more bullets than normal for a Rainbow 6 game, and that was juts to supress the other team while your teammates maneuvered for a better shot. Nobody could hit anyone else; you don't get better tactical action than that anywhere.
Medieval: Total War: You can't beat the feeling of charging your hundreds and hundreds of infantrymen into the enemy while your cavalry take the flank. The only that's going to be more awe inspiring is Rome: Total War.
Natural Selection: My favorite moment from NS was from Nancy (1.04, probably earlier). I was in that little red vent thing that led to the ladder, in heavy armor and a shotgun. I was crouched, of course, since you had to be, and my flashlight was on. I was moving so slowly, and I could hear skulks running around. Suddenly, one jumped straight at me. *BANG* right between the eyes. There's a difference between reflexes that work really fast when you tell them too, and reflexes that just act on their own. With me, the second type takes over whenever I have a shotgun. Of course, back then getting your commander to drop one was much harder than shooting skulks with it.
The 2nd and 3rd missions as the truth unfolds about their past, it starts the epic tale and is increadably atmospheric especialy with the music.

Oh yes... that was quite a moment. I actually teared up... "Higara is burning." I think that's what he said... either way, it got me bleary eyed, especially with the Adagio for Strings in the background. Such haunting voices. This one wasn't as shocking, mainly because of the sub-par graphics. I went in the room and went "Hey... something's not right with this room! It's got visible seams! And who's the polygon-lacking thing they call a character sitting in the chair? Why can't I walk all the way around the room?"
GoldenEye: Beating my friends over and over. Then we change the rules to me vs. them 3. Then we change the rules to "you just have to hit me" and still winning. Good times.

Chronicles of Riddick, near the end of the game... I got the security doors open, but at the far end of the hallway were two armored guard units (they're basically 8-foot-tall, one-man mechs). My mission log was no help - "find the armory" or something. I knew I needed bigger guns; my club and pistol just weren't cutting it.
The guards powered down facing the other direction, which meant I could at least sneak up behind them. Unfortunately, I still had no means of getting rid of them, and the door I needed to get through was past them, around the corner. So I took a deep breath and ran. They woke up and started chasing me; I ran around the corner and through the door with gunfire hot on my heels.
My situation, however, went from bad to worse. There were FOUR armored guards, all with miniguns already spinning up. I ran, looking desperately for a way out of this mess - a dark corner, a vent to jump into, anything, and that's when I saw it... on the far side of the room, shining in the spotlight directly above it, calling out to me...
I swear, angels were singing. I won't spoil it for people playing the game now... but damn, that was a great final sequence. (Ok, it's not the *final* final sequence, but it's close.)
So far I think Homeworld wins for the best game ever, what with everyone loving the Return to Kharak...

That was Return to Kharak right? I can't remember if that was mission 2 or 3.

MOD: Galactic Conquest
Map: Taskforce (space battle)
Action: Y-Wing pilot.
Story:
So awesome.
You get the minigun, and the ground starts to shake... and around the bend of the aqueduct, you see a wave of black rushing towards you... OMG
also, when the end boss shows up behind you, you spin around, and you see its toe... you then realize that you have to look all the way up to see him.... holy crap he is big.

See? Something good did come from my horrible lighting skills!
At my old boarding school, we had 20 computers in our ICT lab that where on lockdown, one day, the computer tacher left the door to his office open with the server administrator account logged in, we decide its time some games were installed on the computers, so 2 people wait by the door just in case(to distract him) while i enterd and install Half Life + CS....
He never suspected a thing. For the next year we would sit inside the ict lab saying we were doin homework, when he left his office , we would call our friends and play from 3ish to around 7ish every night a 20 man lan.We played CS, HL DM + TFC every night, that was a really fun year....
For all i know its still installed on the computers, and HL will be passed down from generation to generation.... lol
Pure luck, but still really fun

hmmm, for More Amazing Moments In Video Games!
Just about every 1/2 hr playing CoH we get the "Wow that woulda been REALY badarsed if we hadn't missed"
beta4a
hera
marines were getting raped. 7 players on aliens. all onos
i was the only one left
(we had relocated to rt platform)
i JPed over to the glass walkway, and was taunting the aliens until i noticed something.
all of the onii (except one)had lagged out! (they were still there, just doing the weird lagg things)
i got a pistol and a knife kill before they physically left the server
hopped into CC, dropped the essentials, and proceded to start rebuilding base
that last onii was a pain, until we killed it
then he evolved fade
at that point, we had lost
so i sneak out of base so we can relocate
again
and again
we got a hive during one relocation
it got to the point where i was admin_slayed me to make the game end (but the game still went on)
i think we did 4 relocations that game (other than the one to rt platform)
100 minute game
i loved it
BF: 1942 on Invasion of the Philippines.
And yes, I have waaaay too much time on my hand.

"Higara is burning." This one wasn't as shocking, mainly because of the sub-par graphics. I went in the room and went "Hey... something's not right with this room! It's got visible seams! And who's the polygon-lacking thing they call a character sitting in the chair? Why can't I walk all the way around the room?"
But plot wise, it was pretty cool.
