I'm pretty sure that particular scene was scripted. I think this mainly because at one point in the video the guard will start shooting through windows at a dishwasher (whatever) that's in the room. At the time the player isn't behind the dishwasher but you see him look at where the guard is shooting and actually move behind it for cover. Looks like it was scripted for them to shoot at the player at that location (along with all the other interactiong) and the guy playing missed his cue <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Infact that entire clip has many parts where the combine will shoot at you at points that seem suspiciously scripted.
e/ upon watching the bink video again, you can see a combine soldier spawn in at the beginning as the guy purposely moves slowly passed some sort of scripted point. In the staircase there are two combine soldiers shooting at you, each missing by miles. Aparently they are targets to show off physics (tossing the barrel and hitting the soda machine) and show the effect of how the blinds move when struck by bullets (the guy outside shooting you through the window). Then when he gets to the area where there is the giant steel beam swinging back and forth, the soldiers that see you after the first swing are scripted (it seems) to fire up at the roof where the player is (simulating suppressive fire). The car blowing up at the end has a wheel that spins off after the car has been blasted a few feet. All in all it looks prett scripted. Cool none the less
Suppresive fire is not scripted. In the beta on totaly different maps they shoot in your general direction. For example a wooden crate, they SEE you crouch behind it so they try to destroy the crate(Which they will).

I know Black and White was supposed to tout a "people go about daily lives" thing. I don't really see it - but that games basically only fun for whipping rocks at stuff. Since you don't get anything really for being good (except an angelic looking animal and a better looking citadel). Hopefully the benefits are more balanced in the 2nd one.
Fable is also supposed to have a (more complex) life simulation thing going on. Which seems to be there, since in one demonstration there were kids in school and guards on patrol and stuff.
If Fable is half as good as it proposes it is, it'll be great fun (as long as the controls are solid). Then again, half the stuff coming out in the next 4 months is pretty much awesome...
Rome Total War, Half-Life 2, Fable, Halo 2...pffft there's tons of them. [maybe Stalker should fit in there too, but I'm not sure if it has a release date yet]
As long as Half-Life 2 runs on my computer it's all good (being as Fable and Halo 2 run on my Xbox...as long as it doesn't fall apart before then).

If I remember correctly, HL1 was great. Why ? It certainly wasn't the graphics. The storyline was pretty linear. Yet it got just about every award on the planet.
I really don't understand all this argument over whether a building is square or round. I'm going to be running from striders, whacking zombies and shotgunning combines too much ton notice. The rest is just gravy.
Although I haven't played it, the impression I get of Farcry is that graphically it is excellent, but the gameplay is average.
