I don't care for HL2. I only care for possible nice mods that will eventually follow.
Who wants to throw the first brick?
In other news, I now need to clean my monitor. I made a mess when I saw the article.
Although, there are 480 people looking at halflife2.net's HL2 discussion forum right now.

You may now start hurling your faeces in my general direction.
Edit: And why the HELL are they releasing it on a Tuesday?

Don't hold your breath for the wealth of mods HL had, at least not of the same quality level. Put your faith in those when they actually exist. Content creation takes longer and requires more manpower these days, meaning the fairly polished large mods you're used to will require extensive organization and structure beyond what most have now to actually get anything done. The average mod team as you know it will have a hell of a time succeeding.
Not to say no teams will do well - but you're risking potential disappointment by getting your hopes up so high for something that may disappoint if it even exists at all.

Yeah, they do. It's under "Half-Life 2 <i>Press Release</i>" and there's a blurb from Jabberwocky at the top saying HL2 isn't gold yet, despite this press release saying specifically, "Half-Life 2 <b>has gone gold</b>." I hope that's an outdated blurb they just forgot to update. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Kind of like why UT2k4 still has no polished mods?

New games are always released on Tuesdays. It's just how the industry works, for whatever reason.

Well, I think you are adressing me as a pre emptive HL2 hater <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
But my experience teaches me that I like a part 2 of a game as much as a part 1. And since the HL1 singleplayer and multiplayer didn't appeal to me, I'm expecting the same of part 2. I might be pleasantly suprised, but since I doubt that I'd rather put my money on the mods that will be made.
'nuff said.
