What Do You Drive?
<div class="IPBDescription">The official show off your ride thread.</div>As I caught myself drifting off topic in another thread, I ran a search and found no threads regarding "my ride". Post a pic of your ride here, tell us the specifics on it, and why you like it. <b>If it can be driven and it transports you from point A to point B we want to see it.</b> Want to bash mine or a particular brand? Have at it, just don't get personal. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
My ride: a 1999 Lexus LS400 with a 290hp high compression V-8. Although 6 years old it's still solid as a rock and so quiet you can't hear it idling at a red light. The stock sound system cannot be played above 1/2 volume (it'll cause ear damage) and is distortion free. The only modification I've added are the BBS wheels (stock size as I didn't want to bork the ride).
This car has been rated as one of the most reliable automobiles in the world, my primary reason for buying it. It is an absolute pleasure to drive, if no further than to the grocery store. Oh yeah, in spite of the powerful engine and it's weighing 4,000 lbs. plus, it averages 28mpg on the highway. I think I'll keep this one...

What can I say? I'm a student.
Jokes aside, remember folks: Discussion - good. Spam - bad. Act accordingly.
SOHC L4 4g15 engine, producing 84hp @ 5500rpm, and 90lb-ft of torque at 3000.
This doesn't sound like much, but considering it's got a curb weight of 1500 pounds, it's palatable. A 17.8:1 ratio, which is better than most economy cars.
Current plans are to find a severe rear-end collision 89-90 Eclipse GS-T (2.0L turbocharged 4g63t engine), and do an engine/tranny/harness swap, which will bring it up to a stock level 185bhp, 210 crank. That'll provide a 7.1:1 power to weight, and run low 12s and high 11s, assuming no traction problems (which become an issue with any car with that kind of P-W, that isn't an AWD). For comparison, a Porsche 911 twin-turbo only pushes a 7.2:1.
With minor upgrades (under $2K total) it can easily be brought up to 250 crank, which yields a 6:1. At this point, it becomes a very real risk of spinning racing slick radials forever, without going anywhere. You can easily break them free of the road from a 40mph rolling start.
The best part is that the Mirage has all of the mount points for the 2.0L engine, as well as a DSM tranny... so it's all drop-in bolt-on, and thread the new wiring harness where the old one used to go.
In any case.. other modifications.
Swapped the stock 175/70-13 tires for a set of 195/50-15 Nitto 450 V-rated on five-blade impeller rims. Saved my life more than once, when I had to change lanes in two car lengths at 65. And I don't have a very long car.
Minor body strengthening to reduce torque steer and improve cornering reliability.
Further performance tuning is waiting on the new engine and tranny... it'd be a little pointless to mod it, then throw away that money once I find the car I need.
New stereo. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Aiwa CDC-X504MP running to the stock speakers and a pair of 6x9 cones on the hatch shelf, and through a (painfully underpowered) Punch75 to a pair of 14" subs in a sealed enclosure. Unfortunately, my sister decided to see how loud it would go and blew the shelf cones. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Surprisingly, the pair of DBQuart 3" in the front console survived quite happily.
I'll post pictures in a bit... but keep in mind that I'm trying to make a sleeper. Something that I can take to the track, talk smack to the shiny Camaro SS owners and get laughed at, then back it up by waving to them in my rear view mirror. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(And on a mod note, cleaned away all the spamposts, now that the issue is fixed. On-topic, folks.)
Pictures Added!

I'll take some clearer ones when I get a cameraphone that isn't broken. :b
My last car I bought. A 1996 Saturn SL2 5-Speed Manual. I plan on modding her out, with in dash computer, body kit, etc. The whole shibang. However, I bent a rod (hey, I'm a teenager...that, and the oil leaked out of a gasket, more that what I figured would have...GD car...) and am currently saving for a new engine. I'll get it at the end of the month. <a href='http://destroyer.evilsquid.net/pics/car/sl2/' target='_blank'>More Pics here</a>
Currently I am driving my dad's 2002 GMC Sierra. Nice big black truck. (In background of next pic) Even have his car badge and police lights in it, so driving in traffic is no biggie. ^_^
<img src='http://destroyer.evilsquid.net/pics/car/benz/DSC00031.JPG' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
I also own a 300SD Turbo Diesel Mercedez Benz. I need to work on her some, thats where the other half of my paycheck is going to. <a href='http://destroyer.evilsquid.net/pics/car/benz/' target='_blank'>More Pics here</a>
Finally, I am working on with my dad my last car. My classic show car, a 1960 Nash Metropolitian. Google it if you want to know what it looks like.
Yea, I own a lot of cars over the years...and I'm only 18. And no, I'm not a spoiled kid who has their parents by me cars. I bought the Benz and Saturn myself. The truck is a family car, and the Metropolitian is our car. I'll buy it from him later, though, when I finish college.
Those wheels at the front spin.
In viewing your images, I came across one of the Mercedes trunk emblem. I was shocked to find out it was made of plastic when one was accidentally knocked off (I used to drive a 75' car carrier and damaged a new one decades ago). <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Vauxhall Corsa. Don't like it or dislike it. It just gets me where I'm going.
<img src='http://www.qv500.com/Ferrari%20Testarossa%20P1%201.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
It's a '96 Lexus ES300. Got it for Christmas this year.
And yes, the Camry blows horny goats through a straw. That Nash could probably whup the tar out of one. If not, I've got a buddy with a Studebaker that could definitely point out where a Camry can go.
This interests me as I drive a Toyota product. I'd really like you to elaborate as to why the top selling automobile in the world could possibly be so bad. I am all ears. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I'll post pics later, but she's from that year or two period when GM was experimenting with environmentally friendly primers, so paint is chipping like Tiger Woods from off the green.
My plan is to put in a cold air intake, (Possibly machine a ram-air type configuration, just gotta work out how to keep it dry in the rain <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) redo the paint job, get a modest system put in it, and drive it into the ground.
I've also thought of filling the trunk with electrolytic capacitors charged by the alternator used to fire a rear mounted <a href='http://www.amazing1.com/emp.htm' target='_blank'>EMP cannon.</a>
Of course, due to the high cost of the capacitors, I'd have to settle for something more theatrical but still awesome.
I might fuse together a thin square glass container, evacuate it to .5 Torr or so, then set up a plasma-ball type effect, then use Lexan to make a trunk out of it. Just to be different, you know.

At least three people have learned how to use a stick on it, and yet it is still
running on the <i>orgininal</i> transmission. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->
It gets me from point A to point B in a fairly reliable manner, and it heats up really quick
so its perfect for me.

You may want to install a grille, or at least some form of radiator protection. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
<img src='http://www.doomaniac.com/stuff/Pictures/DOOMobile.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
It's a 96-ish Grand Am I got a few years back.
And no, I don't actually call it the DOOMobile to other people. And its was just an added bonus that the car is doom marine green when I got it. :)
<img src='http://www.howawesomeisthat.com/images/matts_car/escort.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
It cost me 200 dollars and came with afree pair of sunglasses, it has no radio (I had a portable stereo in the passenger seat. The portable stereo did not have a way to keep the betteries in so they came out a lot), the passenger's side door does not unlock, the driver's side door does not open from the inside, the trunk has no lock and requires a screwdriver to open, the right headlight does not have a cover, there were subs in the hatchback top before I bought the car but they were stolen along with the radio and the dash got smashed to hades, the spedometer only goes up 85 and it rattles between 55 and 65, it got really great mileage though.
You can't see it from here but the right side is covered in orange paint from when I crashed into a flatbed cart in a Home Depot parking lot.
The timing belt broke and all the valves got bented so it is useless. I beat the crap out of it a few days back and have since purchased a '95 Subaru Legacy station wagon which is not nearly as awesome (but works a lot better)
however i did just buy a nissan 240sx SE 1993 for $1600 (only problem is its automatic instead of manual <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
That's not mine, but I have the same model. 1986 ford f-250. Mine is pure brown and looks like crap, but fun to drive <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
