I can't get my alien bots to build a 2nd hive. I played some Eclypse last night, first to teach someone how to play NS then I just kept going. I fortified the Marine base, Maintenance hive, and the RTs at Station Access Alpha, Horseshoe, and South Loop. Maintenace got a whole base setup (CC, IPs, Adv Armory, Obs, Arms Lab, Proto Lab, PG linking it to main base) and each RT got a bot instructed to defend it, plus their own Armories. Then I went to bed.
Got up several hours later, to find that the Aliens had overrun and taken Station Access Alpha and South Loop, and had built RTs at all other open points INCLUDING Comp Core, but they didn't build the hive.
Also, whenever I want to be an Alien against them, they never build IPs, so they each die once and its over. (Yes, bot_commanding is 1.) I know that still beta, just thought I'd point out that its something important to fix.
[Edit] Oh, just realized there's a new bot version that should build hives. I'll go check it out.

how do you turn bot commanding off, and waypointing on? rc_botcommanding 0 or something? and why do they have a fetish for proto labs? and how can I change the names thanks in advance

Its been mentioned at lot at these forums, but you'll need to dig them out since it was ageas ago everyone was talking about it. Basically open up you NS shortcut properties and change the Working Directory (or Start-in text box I think) to the path of the HL folder.
I've been testing out your beta bots for a little while now and I like em. They're definitely smarter than the OLD ones I'm running on my server. I like how they follow you when you tell em to, and I love the "stay put until I order you" variable. I use that and the one that keeps em out of the comm chair. I mucked about with the percentage files, and I've seen a very healthy mix of alien species, as opposed to the 3-gorge bot team that you used to see. Personally, I've seen a gorge accidentally wander into a hivesite and a few times I've had them build a hive too! Usually I have to build the hives for em, but when I do, the fades and onoses are MEAN! Thank goodness you can scale them back from the 100% hit rate of the old bots.
I've also seen a few server crashes, but nothing that I seem to be able to reproduce. The bots still seem to have problems with ladders (going up em), and getting stuck in low spots in the maps. I think, however, that this is more of a waypointing issue and not a bot code thing. I have noticed stuck bots kill themselves much more quickly than the stupid bots.
Perhaps some sort of waypointing like they did with TFC... have a primary goal that bots head towards (marine base) and secondary goals that they check on occasion (hive sites).
I'd still give my left nut for smart bots that don't kill metamod.
WhichBot is pretty smart and works as a MetaMod plugin.
It's doesn't do the marines like RCBot, though - and it's still in alpha, so features are limited. Cheeseh has us beat on the marines side, we're not going to do it at all, but I think WhichBot is more challenging to play against than the alien RCBots.
I'll pass on your left nut, but thanks for the offer.
