I love the sweeping camera angles on the lerk flight. cant wait to play.
Im really wanting to see what they have done with the new alien "flashlight" function.
I like that last ending scene with the marine and the Onos. I was just imagining the picture complete with a little alien toll both and gate down in front of the onos. With the Onos like
Wow. Encredible work, Guys. This has made the game look amazing! Does anyone know if it is possible to efficiently get that motion blur effect with shaders on recent graphics cards? That would really make the game look so much better. Motion blur makes motions actually seem fluid.
Apparantly its possible <a href='http://developer.nvidia.com/docs/IO/8230/GDC2003_OpenGLShaderTricks.pdf' target='_blank'>http://developer.nvidia.com/docs/IO/8230/G...haderTricks.pdf</a> now we just need to see if its possibile within the halflife engine.
Just like to point out brywright.co.uk has had 1774 downloads of the new trailer <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Question though: Is there anything in the trailer that shows off the new version? Anything at all that we see or that behaves in a way different than the current version out?
no new features shown off, aside from what looked like a new map (sorry but map making is generally a community thing, you're just wasting time making maps when you could be doing other stuff, imo)
graphics look the same, models look the same
while i enjoy ns and yall have worked hard on it, i think this is going to be way over hyped. the mini patch notes that tells us whats in the works for this release dont seem all that ground breaking and neither does the video (excellant editing though)

Now, let's point out that this trailer is aimed at new players (hell, it's not even announcing the "next beta").
Map making is, in case you didn't know, mostly a community thing. In fact, there's only two mappers that are also Developers (Relic25 and Merkaba, and one of them is retired!), the rest are contributors. You know what the Contributor group means? It means that someone from the community contributed something to NS... for example... maps. Now check who made the new map (ns_eon) and check his user group...
Now explain to me how the NS Dev team has wasted time with this... ok. <span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:orange'>Edited for politeness</span></span>
Maybe I should note that this trailer was truly aimed at new players. Yes, it does not show off much B6-centric stuff, which is because to someone who has not played NS before, that just does not matter. Had we gone into this under the premise of hyping existing players up, it'd've looked quite different. We generally trust you to form your own opinion about our changes, though.
