My personal view is that none of these alone will be a good addition to the game. If you add new weapons, you need a new lifeform, or a new chamber. You need balance, and any one of these may overbalance it. HOWEVER, if you make a mix, that would be far more suitable. Now, vehicles never seemed to fit the TSA, and although it would be fun, I don't think it's particularly fitting.
Weapons are definately fitting, though I think that there should be some sort of difference in it, make it somehow different, harder to get than a bit of res. Perhaps an additional resource would make the game a little different?
As for aliens....what I feel they need is a late-game ambusher, with high damage and speed, but less life. Along the lines of a larger, more powerful skulk.
Perhaps simply a point when a certain lifeform has evolves on its own, after a certain amount of experience/kills has been gained.
Just a few ideas from a sleep deprived madman. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Hmmm, I think the engine itself is enough of a feature
*thinks about an onos charging through a computer lab, knocking tables, chairs, and computers all over the place to take out the enemy phase gate*
Ummm, I would like to see a new marine armor type besides light, jp, and heavy. I don't know what that is exactly, but I think a "mid-level" armor type would be really neat ... so yeah ... new marine tech in other words =-p
I thought we were shooting for indoors and claustrophobic, not badass marines doing drive-bys in their choppers. Any kind of vehicle in an indoor setting is just lame.
If possible to add to the list. Now I'm not sure if only Valve can fix it or maybe a MOD developer team could. But how about hit boxes that are actually accurate for once and some extreme improvement in the netcode. Playing HLDM:S is like playing on a stone age dial up modem. Playing CS:S is like playing "LETS SHOOT ANY WHERE BUT AT THE GUY AND GET A HS"
I am fully against vehicles and outdoor maps. Prefferably, have BIGGER maps, that perhaps allow room for small vehicles to be used. I just dont want to see big jeeps and stuff get implemented. It heavily depends on how you want to use them though, Imagine being chased around the hive by a freakin gunship, that would nto be fun.

i am sorry i dotn have hte time to read all these now so ill say my bit, yes yes plz put all the damn hackers in one server, and leave me to play in my skill range
a mech build up by 3 or more parts, placed by the Commander or in Combat by a player with an welder, which needed to get builded and then welded together.
example:
Torso with engine(Chain-wheels, wheels or maybe legs) with an inbuild hmg - 60Res or 3 points(Armor3 needed)
Left and right arm(Placed on ground)with chooseable weapons(GL or flamethrower) - 30Res or 2points each
and then, when welded together someone could enter it like the CC
and the pilot might need to have some skills(like 'Mecha-piloting' 2 points in combat or a Pack for 20 resources in classic)
------------------------------------
And then a symbiosis between Skulks/onos Skulks/Fades or Lerk/Onos
Now that I think abput it, vehicles sound great and all, but really i made my decision too early. NukeAJS nails the head in his post. While the thought would be nice, this game is not about it. What would be nice is an official jeep, or some official vehicles for custom map makes to play with, but nothing in the official maps.
If I could, I would take my vote back and put it towards a new weapon: a flame thrower (WTH, sniper rifle? )
WOW PPL ive played outdoor maps for ns (custom) AND MY GOD ITS AWFUL. It is like lerk domination hax all over. Ns is not meant to be outside so dont put it their thats just a god awful idea.
one problem is that outdoor maps and vehicles doesnt belong together. I read some of the posts and Im not shure that my vote wasnt this vise.
but there is one point missing: atmosphere.
imagine, you drop from your ship hovering 3 feet in the air, dust all around you, than the ship leaves. the dust sets. you grap your gun and the commander tells you to walk along the canyon and finally enter the cave that leads to a hive. but you can see something coming up to you in the clouds of dust.
some people around here seem to have a week imagination...
It would be awesome with vehicles. but only if theyre destructable.
7 marines pull up in a buggy, then the aliens are trying to attack and you shoot them off with the gun turret and it catches on fire, then everyone piles out and it explodes.
but, it would also be cool if it is indoors and you have like a chaingun and the crosshair goes crazy when you shoot, and the screen moves like crazy. <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I don't want outdoor maps. I want more complex maps. I want multi-level towers, more weld points, more destructable points, vent systems that can be changed mid-game, etc. Outdoors would wind up with some sticky issues. Lerks trying to go orbital and that sort of thing. Not to mention that the primary advantage of skulking (wall climbing) is completely negated by outdoor maps unless they're so tight that they might as well be indoor anyway with a different texture applied. And if that's the case, I think there's better things Flayra could spend his time on.
I certainly don't want vehicles other than as map-specific devices -- the drop ship, the rail car, etc. Though as such they probably wouldn't be bad.
But what would be really great is a decent training level so that you could throw the disc from PC-Gamer into a friends computer and get them hooked nearly instantly.

The only outdoor situation that would make sense would be if a large ship crashed in a canyon, was stuck and you could move throughout broken parts of the ship that lead to outside stacked boulders, so really it'd be inside.. but just inside a bunch of rocks.
Other than that, outdoor situations and vehicles would be bad unless we were chasing some giant Queen, like the one fictional drawing in the I&S forum or whatever. I'll look for it later.

hhmm okay.. this idea won't affect gameplay much..
For the Ready room, plz remove it and replace it with a TSA dropship! thats right! a tsa dropship!! the dropship will orbit the infested station, and there'll be a map on the walls or somewhere to display the game! this way, people can watch the game..
The dropship cannot affect gameplay.. also, there'll be Lmgs, pistols, knives and stuff in the dropship.
Maps will turn on After 1 minute to prevent players from finding the hive in 10 seconds.
Btw, NO VEHICLES!! INDOOR MAPS ONLY!!

this would just compromise it easier. plus.. when a match is starting, CAL or not.. the people joining marines would be able to see where the alien hive is..
Not to mention, for the actual in-game streaming you'd need a video codec and much more built into NS.
Remove the map, and a dropship would be a wonderful idea. Hell, even, you could keep the RR and have the marine spawn in the dropship after they die. They go to the armory to suit up, then teleport to an ip from with in the ship.

I voted marine tech. Simply because of the nature of the Kharaa tech tree I consider them the much easier side to make new tech options for. Add an alien, swap around the weapons for one or more aliens, make the offense chamber give upgrades again as it did before the 1st public release, chain/unchain the chambers...everyone's got their own ideas. But being creative enough to come up with good new marine tech seems rather difficult, making it the sort of thing I'd be most impressed by.
